don't think the BOE can post them until they have both been approved - the budget by the county/ state & the reading program still needs to be voted on at the BOE regual action meeting, 3/30.

The proposed programming for special needs students - still in the talking & developing stages - includes the on going development of the CI program, and various inclusive programs with appropriate staff trainings before implimentation. All in the planning stages & using existing staff & budgeted professional development funds.

The Agenda 3000 reading program (not budgeted)seems to be a step in that direction, as our largest classification catagory is Specific Learning Disabled, a reading disability, in most cases.

Making sure our 8th graders are not reading at a 3rd grade level. What a concept for our leaders to take! I commend Dr. O' Malley on this step. This would give those of us residents another means of following and seeing what our school board members are actually doing as individuals. We wouldn't be subject to the rumors and spin masters, that like to spread their lies. It is impossible for some of us to attend these meetings, but that doesn't mean we don't want to know what our school board is doing. Let's start with TRANSPARENCY, if we want to move this district forward for ALL STUDENTS.

Does anyone know who decides what gets televised?

I also have to say I feel sorry for Rev. Gaddis, I think she was unfairly used By Pat Demerast and crew (Barbato & Zavorkas). It is also my opinion, that Rubino & Ruphert are equally as guilty for sitting there and letting someone be used for political gain. I would like to hear more of her opinions at BOE meetings, and hope she continues to attend, and voice her concerns.

PS. How stupid do these people think the public is?

I guess the obvious answer is: pretty darn stupid.

Thank heavens smarter heads prevailed. There should obviously be a time period for other people to be allowed to show interest in the BOE seat, if not a full on election process. The BOE is supposed to represent the public, not the board president's opinions.

I don't mean to imply that Rev. Gaddis is not out to to do a good job or that she doesn't have the communities best interests at heart, but does she really want to get into the position in a way that will be questioned?

Fair is fair. Let anyone who has an interest for the position have a chance to have their say and show up with their supporters.

It also sounds like certain board members could use some type of sensitivity training. I'm not going to call a race card, because I'm not convinced the comment was completely racist -- but at the very least it was class snobbery. That was the WHOLE POINT. Now BARZA & the sheep who follow them can spin this ANY WAY THEY WANT. If you weren't there to witness this debacle, you will only hear someone's interpretation of what despicable deeds transpired. (Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap!)

Excellent points have been made in previous posts regarding John's voting record regarding minorities in our towns. Please remember what he did during the ill fated re-organization of our schools.

Last night, John couldn't even say the word "Cliffwood". He talked about "your part of town" not having a member on the BOE since Carolyn Williams.

Doesn't Jan Rubino live in Cliffwood? How dare he? How can she stay silent?

I commend Dr. Gambino, who volunteers at the MOST program as a Mentor, for getting hot under the collar & calling John out on that statement. Dr. Gambino stated that he represent ALL parts of Aberdeen, not just the neighborhood he lives in! Good for you, Tommy!

Cathy & John are the ones who have used members of both towns for their own purposes & have not had the interests of children at the center of every decision that they have made for DECADES. Jan, Pat & Marty let them and are just as guilty.

Pat Demarest brought up the old saw of a divided board & even went so far as to refere to the two sides as "North & South"!! Larry O' Connell admonished her for that & made excellent points regarding past practice by our BOE in filling vacated seats.

Michael Gross, our expensive & useless Board attorney, stated that the BOE had latitude in how to pick someone to fill the vacated seat, so he, as usual, was no help whatsover & gave the BOE no guidance on the issue. Guess I'll have to find out what the proper procedures are & let people know.

Chuck Kenny tried to settle things down and explain that there should be an open and tranparent process to the appointment of a vacant BOE seat. He made excellent points on procedures, transparency within the process and FAIRNESS To ALL APPLICANTS.

The Board had not even accepted & voted on Cathy's resignation until last night & Pat had already spoke w/ the Board Attorney & had a candidate present with a room full of supporters? Pat made an idiot of herself, stateing that shewanted everyone to accept Rev. Gaddis as a show of unity - if not, it would be more of the "same political" games!!

Does she listen to herself? EVER??

I'm guessing that Pat Demarest must have received a letter from the state regarding her ethics in paying herself as a poll worker in a school board election. Guess she's being investigated & this is payback.

Great legacy for the kids of this district, Pat. Way to go!

I don't know Reverend Gaddis & I apologize if I am mispelling her name. She seemed lovely, committed to the entire community & may be a great addition to the BOE. She said that she did take out an election packet, but it was delayed & she didn't submit it. I hope that she starts coming to BOE meetings & stays involved.

I hope also that, since there doesn't seem to be any "rules" regarding this that MANY, MANY people write letters deliniating their desire to fill the open Aberdeen seat & list their qualifications for the position.

Send them to Susan Irons, our wonderful Business Administrator, who has done a great job, with Dr. O' Malley, putting together a budget with a 0% increase in the tax levy!!

Perhaps then, a democratic & transparent process will proceed.

Make that vote 17,008 to zero. I seriously doubt it happened that way.

Obviously one person did not get the Reverend put on the school board and they are upset. Where was that person when all of the money was wasted, recently found out and un-certified people held positions they were not certified or qualified to hold, and where was this critic of the board when the former representative of that area of Aberdeen always looked so disinterested and bored.

But a Reverend was not immediately put on the school board and all of a sudden the race card is played.

I would suggest as well that everyone watch the meeting on the TV before we start calling people racists on one anonymous persons opinion.

The County Rd. project in this economic environmen...

The County Rd. project in this economic environment probably will not happen as it will be hard to sell such homes.
