Different Strokes for Different Folks

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" – George Orwell (Animal Farm)

Last night, after the council approved the first reading for nearly $3 million in new bonds, the council also approved the first reading of an ordinance authorizing the township to vacate a twenty foot strip of land that adjoins a private residence whose owner has been maintaining the land and whose use is of no value to the township.

Councilman Cannon told AberdeenNJlife that the prior tax maps had erroneously included the land in the homeowner’s plot and she has been paying property taxes for land that wasn’t hers.

According to Councilman Cannon, the township agreed to vacate the land. In exchange, the homeowner will cover all related transactional expenses and accept a deed restriction preventing a future subdivision of the property.

This all sounds reasonable. My only question is why this homeowner isn’t getting the same deal as another homeowner who happens to sit on the town council and got 8,688 square feet of land from the town council and state highway authority for the grand total of $2. Nor is there any deed restriction on his property to prevent subdivision.

Why the different treatment between a local homeowner and a town councilman? Enquiring minds want to know.

Anon,

So, instead of just "intimating" that something's going on, why don't you speak plainly and tell us what you think has been happening.

I can't wait to hear the latest version of "O'Malley's looking for a new job".

I wonder what you'll be spinning months from now when he's still here with the same contract and nothing's changed.

You're a blockhead and I suspect you always will be.

Ronald Reagen used the same hair stuff as Vinci. Vanity and an aging politicians nothing ever changes. Nothing changes with self serving politicians like Vinci also grabbing all he can like land that Kauff and The Hey Aberdeener made a great great point about the Vinci land grab. It is in fact very interesting along with a series of historically ignored ??? on how Vinci had no restrictions on his two $1.00 land grabs that is of course unlike many other town residents who paid much more money for property and who had significant limitations and restrictions on their land purchases. But no land use restrictions for our Vinci, after all he is a special and integral part of the corrupt Norman Kauff Incoporporated political machine. Vinci is also a consultant don't forget. Consultant? That was a really funny joke a couple of elections ago. Got to pay those taxes somehow. Right Vinci?

This same town property that was corruptly and questionably awarded to Vinci by Kauff also had to come with the blessing of CME of course. That goes without saying and would of course include being approved after another big $tudy and taxpayer check to CME to en$ure that the Vinci deal went off without a glitch.

Then there were the town legal eagle$ who had to get paid Kauffcorruptly to give another expen$ive ver$ion of the Kauff ble$$ing on the Vinci land deal. Can't do anything in town without CME, Kauff's lawyer$ and of course plenty of $$$ for our of council Norman Kauff. Right Norm?

Norm you suck! In case you forgot?

Councilman getting special deals?

Developers with deep corrupting pockets and big money to spread around easily getting questionable developmental approvals all despite an overburdened school system, inadequate infrastructure and a greatly oppressed taxpayer base that cannot support it?

Unelected power bosses really running the town leadership and all those who allow it violating the public trust, official and ethical advisories and far more all in violation of sworn oaths to represent the people to the best of their abilities. Oaths that include the words I SWEAR TO GOD?

Inadequate management acting only as bobbleheads of the power bosses to ensure that the powerbosses get anaything they want approved.

Ensuring that development moves forward at any and all costs and in new and corrupting manners that bypass every normal developmental approval process of the past, all because a vocal citizenry came out again and again and again.

What is this I say?

Is this the work on behalf of the people?

Is this government working for the best interest of the people?

Hell no! It is all just for Kauff and his cohorts and CM&E for $$$$.

Drive around Aberdeen and really look around. That is all you have to do to see if he earns his pay. Money well spent is what I say when you look around at other towns in our area. My niece works with him and he does much more then many people know about. They all do. In this time of attacking towns and state employees your off the mark on this one. You fixate on his salary but there are many more making much more that you ignore or are possibly told to ignore.

IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THE THEFTS THAT TAKES PLACE IN NEW JERSEY.

PERTH AMBOY — A long-time insurance broker for the Perth Amboy school board admitted to stealing $2.6 million in funds paid over six years for a non-existence health care program.

Frank Cotroneo, 59, of Bernards Township, pleaded guilty Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Bradley Ferencz in New Brunswick to charges of second-degree theft by deception and false representation of a government contract.

The plea comes in wake of federal probes of insurance brokers serving school board and municipalities across the state. Late last year, Perth Amboy school officials received subpoenas for information about health insurance policies.

In May, federal authorities issued another round of subpoenas to dozens of government agencies statewide, asking for documents relating Cotroneo and another broker, Francis X. Gartland, owner the Baltimore based Federal Hill Risk Management brokerage firm.

Gartland, 69, his son-in-law, Derek Johnson, 39, and a business partner, Thomas Kelleher, 62, who are accused of overcharging the city to pay for the non-existent program, have all pleaded not guilty.
More coverage:

• Insurance brokers accused of stealing $200K from Perth Amboy plead not guilty

Under a plea agreement, state Deputy Attorney General Diane Deal and Deputy Attorney General Pearl Minete will recommend that Cotroneo receive an eight-year prison sentence, with the stipulation that he be ineligible for parole for at least four years. No date has been set for sentencing.

Cotroneo will also be required to reimburse the Perth Amboy school board $2.6 million and pay $2.8 million for a corruption profiting penalty, said Paul Loriquet, spokesman for the state Attorney General's Office.

He said that between November 2003 and July 2009, $2.6 million in payments the school board school made for health insurance was diverted to a non-existent, unauthorized health care program.

Perth Amboy schools Superintendent John Rodecker said the school district has been cooperating with the state investigation, but school officials were unaware of the charges filed against Cotroneo, the district's insurance broker.

"This was a violation of trust," Rodecker said. "This was a very complicated and intricate scheme that was designed to get around our checks and balances,

$3,000,000.00 bond ordinance?

Is that enough for CM&E to be able to kickback enough corrupt $$$$ to be able to cover the next Kauff election cycle?

Four seats are up next year and that will certainly mean more corrupt money will be needed by Kauff. You see along with the economy going into the tank and that cutting down on developers to shakedown Kauff is used to paying a lot less for votes. Votes are not as cheap to buy as they used to be. Right Vinnie? I mean sure Vinci was indebted for the land grab and Montone will get her sewers, but a big election like this year requires bigger donations from CM&E. Also we cannot forget the bond council that will be hand selected by Kauff for the right kickback %.

After all it is always just another day for the oppressed taxpayers of Aberdeen. My bad I meant to say just another day in Kauffville.

Feel free to call me anytime and ask all the questions you feel necessary. I would much rather you call me then to continue hiding behind your keyboard. You are embarassing yourself while taking up space from things far more important that deserve discussion or advisory. I am sorry for you if all you have time to do is chide me anonymously and eroneously. The fact that leadership across the board at every level of governmental or educational leadership is often ineffective and too easily spends or wastes millions of tax dollars improperly is a real subject deserving of discussion. That is the real cause for concern of taxpayers, not what I do for a living and why I do it.

I am in no way, shape or form interested in what you do for a living or if you are paid enough for that service? Just let me know what concerns you or has angered you to the point that you highlight me without one spec of knowledge as to what I do. You should call me and let me explain all that I do and why.

I am confidant you would be very interested and far better informed of my position and its cause and effects, after such a civil and informative conversation.

I thank you for your time in this regard. My apology to all the rest.

The guy does his job, the guy gets involved with his community and you get to sit there and criticize. And yes he has a big mouth versus your silence unless it is about him. Where were you when Joe came out against the 2 million dollar football field or when he did a study on how many police we needed and did not have. I read the study and then watched the town spend 10 thousand to have a study done that came up with the same number. Ask yourself what he does that is so bad? Then come back and tell us what you have done since you lived here to help your community. Yes I said help your community. I lived down the street from him and he cared far more then our elected officials ever did about the beach. He took a job he loves to do and he loves when people like you criticize him as you sit there and do nothing. Keep it up Joe. Forget this moron.

An officer on overtime makes around $70.00 an hour. People who don't maintain their homes cost you and your neighbors a lot of money in resale values. So whatever they pay him he deserves it when the town stays like it is. I know I will got my money when I sold and how clean the town is helps all of us a lot. But you who posted at 11:18 pm seem to have all the answers. I notice you chose to hide when he invited you to call him and ask any question. So brave you are it seems. Keep hiding.

Hey Art,
An officer on OT makes $70 an hour you say. So, even if that officer put in 1000 hours of 0T to perform those jobs, which is a VERY high assumption, the town would still be saving money.

He's always running his suck about savings, well here's a perfect example. Let's do it.

take a look said...

Let me start off by saying this a response to the "Big Joe" defender:

I will tell you this, maybe since he has moved to the Nsection and out of the beach - here is what I see and maybe he has turned his back on where he was first:

A beach that is in no comparrison to Middlesex side Cbeach or Keyport or Union Beach.

A park down there that has a problem and puddles frequently and could be a breeding ground for mosquitoes when left unattended.

Enen so, town functions coud be held down there so that everyone uses the area - maybe if you made it a place nice enough people from all over Matawan Aberdeen would want to visit.

A play ground missing a slide with a 10 foot drop and spray paint. A hockey rink that is barred up for unsafe surface???

I know people who go for walks right past our park and cross the bridge to the MIddlesex park for the playground and walking trail and boardwalk.

What about a sand dune detroyed in a storm and has not since been replaced - therefore the next big one we get all of that water is going directly through onto the road and that whole park area to the bridge.

What about sand dune replenishment? What about fixing up the beach?

Here is a novel idea - what about a boat ramp down there so that you can charge 20 bux a water entry and MAKE MONEY to use toward something down there- From South Amboy to Perth Amboy to Middlesex Cbeach to Keyport to Union Beach to Keansburg to Leonardo and all the way down - WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE NOTHING. You want to talk about proerty value?

Where is Big Joe with all of these observations if he cares to much about the WHOLE TOWN? Not to mention some streets with no curbs, grass growing through cracks and sidewalks with so many weeds it looks like a garden. But lets keep paving the other side of town (different story for a different day)....

So instead of calling him, I said it here.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? Joe M. did not send out flyers during election time with his face at the beach, facing water, and standing at the very park I am complaining about. Where are our elected officials now? They used this side of town for votes with that mail out flyer and where are they now?

Anonymous said...

None of the things that you point out come under Big Joes duties. We pay many other people a whole lot more then he could ever be paid to ignore that. I can assure you that when Big Joe sees something anywhere he does not turn his back on it. He may be told it is not his to worry about but you can be sure he lets someone know. He always has and always speak his mind because he cares. The poeple that have turned there backs on many of us are our elected officials and their dictator Kauffy. I don't mind reading your complaints but sand dunes, streets and parks is just part of your list and is many other peoples jobs not Big Joe. He does his job while many around him probably dont. I have known him since middle school he is a real good guy.

NSectionJoe said...

Thanks Kim for your kind words and it has been a very long time since our days in MAMS. Have you heard from Patty (N) nee K. lately ?

To the other anonymous few who criticize and who attempt to embarass me, to you few all I can say is there were no messages on my answering machine from any of you today. So, you either must all have all the answers you need or you really do not care to openly discuss the issues you seem to have with me honestly and openly.

As for who cares about me and as you state (who gives a shit), no one should worry about me or what I do. There are however far too many other more important and serious issues to discuss locally and beyond that are far more deserved of your time and attention.

So once again I say respectfully say that the invitation is still out there for those who think they have all of the answers, have legitimate questions for me or for whomever may have legitimate concerns or may just need to be better informed.

Finally to those few, I say that yes I am very vocal especially when there are savings to be had in our educational system, state and our local governments. Savings that deserve discussion, input, analysis from without and within. What is also needed is criticism or praise of course if it is deserved. It is the entire system that needs to be properly addressed by those who have not sought corrections and positive change. Likewise an honest explanation from those who have themselves allowed the problems to exist and flourish, that have gotten us to where we are in this state and nation today.

We citizens and even municipal employees are the ones who need to bring about real and substantive change to the corrupted and confusing system we all are apart of. If you think we can trust those pontificators of corruption under the gold dome down in Trenton, you can forget it. They are the ones who caused it and who would rather fight to keep the inept, wasteful, political patornage circus train running on the exact same track, as it has been all of these years as they sat idle.

That I hope is changing for the better despite political partisanship and deep seated division between the aisles.

To the vocal few I say that yes I am vocal, yes I have strong opinions, yes I am involved in my community, yes I work for Aberdeen and I owe no one for that position despite the few of you who are ill informed or whom have ill perceived opinions, to the contrary based on some prior contact with me or my criticism of you or one of your pet projects or benefactors. I was asked three times to assume this position and did finally accept the position on the third offer. The exact same position, which I enjoy doing every single day. Sure there are days when we vent, curse and doubt ourselves. However, it is the position and its duties that are far from what I started doing that changes and improves daily that I enjoy.

As I stated repeatedly today and in the past I am willing to discuss that which is criticized, questioned or ridiculed anytime, anywhere with anyone. Feel free to call me as the invitation is open and out there to anyone. However, if you continue to criticize or attempt to embarass me then all I can feel is pity for you. Remember before you attack me or anyone else I identify myself as well you should to be beleived. I live in town and I await your call and questions. If they don't come that is all on you then.

Think about it is all I can ask you to do. Likewise think about what your real problem with me is since I am only a small part of the total equation you have going on within yourself. I wish the few of you well.

We all have better things to do and if you seek to post against me or my position do so from an informed position. Several of you are not there. Not even close really.

I apologize for the length of this, which I am sure will be criticized as well. It is OK.

Thank you !

Joe M-

What about those complaints listed by "take a look" at 9:49 am?

There seems to be some vaild points there? Do you have an opinion?

NsectionJoe responds said...

There are some valid points in that post. So yes I am also concerned that our beaches do not get the attention politically, financially and respectfully that they should. Too often the area is just a photo op during an election year. Both parties have used the term the Jewel of Aberdeen. It is a jewel that needs some shining and has needed it for years. I think the people who used it most recently for their political literature should be given a chance to leave their mark and improve it or ignore it like some prior administrations and powers before.

As far as the Old Bridge side and their significantly improved beach areas just on the other side of that small bridge from our Cliffwood Beach, many of us would not know that Old Bridge gave over all of the beachfront to Middlesex County and with properly timed grant applications those improvements were accomplished, which came from Middlesex County and possibly the Federal authority moneys.

There were some efforts recently being proposed that had to do with a walkway on the seawall and some ADA requirements for better accessability for impaired citizens to also enjoy the area.

Also in my taxpayer opinion the areas of Cliffwood and Cliffwood Beach were ignored for years. Some park and playground improvements have been a welcome improvement often mandated for safety, but we will take it.

As for the sand dune comments and after the recent and very damaging storms, decisions have been made probably under state review and advisory that may have to be a continual proposal or plan developement which too often also involves engineers. That once again speaks for itself in my taxpayer opinion.

As for my ignoring Cliffwood or Cliffwood Beach while working I assure you nothing could be further from the truth. As for improvements to the beach area I would urge anyone to go to a council meeting or any of your local, county and state officials and ask them why our beach does not get what others have gotten.

As for roads, curbs and the like. Once again I assure you that everyone has the worst streets in town. They do not really but unfortunately the grading of our political system accomplishments has too often been based on whose roads are being improved. That in my opinion is and has been better governed and supervised the past several years. If one looks at the streets done in the past eight years there has been an exacting list that on occasion yes has had to be shuffled because of utility related damage that was significant. This is true especially in the past four years especially with the water system damaging roadways or by required repairs. This is also the truth and not because they pave more in Strathmore then anywhere else. That is untrue and if beleived is wrong. I drive every street in town at least once a week and I can see the worst streets in town.

Don't get me wrong there have been some outright political boneheaded decisions in the past. Politicians like Kyrillos, Thompson and Pallone have promised us beach dollars with political photo ops. When it does not happen I just chalk it up to New Jersey politics and nothing more.

The pool club not being bought by the town is a sore subject with me since I think that could have been a great thing. The condition of the beachfront park as well due to the damage caused by mother nature and local youths who don't know any better also hurts the area.

I once again offer to anyone to call me and leave a message on any subject, complaint or concern and I will check into it for them.

Much is said of me because of my positions in the employ of Aberdeen. That I care is criticized as well. I know that when I go to work it is for all of Aberdeen. It is not about violins or any self praise that I say that either. I enjoy Aberdeen and yes it is not perfect by any stretch of anyones imagniation. But if people get involved and speakout change and accountability can come.

Hey NSection Joe what's your number? Not sure why, but Deerfield Park hasn't been mowed recently.

Jeez he's one guy said...

I went back and looked at the number things he is responsible for from one of the past posts.

128 businesses
11 apartment complexes
6000 homes and properties
and everything in between.

Maybe they should just let him ride around on a lawn mower to make you people happy? Hes one guy jeez. You people expect him to do everything and be responsible when it does not happen as you see fit.

Would you want that job? Not me!

It's thankless to say the least from all of you who attack him so relentlessly. But since you have all the answers... I'll shut up.

Njoe is right about one thing said...

"I enjoy Aberdeen and yes it is not perfect by any stretch of anyones imagniation. But if people get involved and speakout change and accountability can come."

I do not agree with everyyhing Njoe says - but this is most true thing he has said. Council meeting with no one there unless to argue about building apts or cell towers. Where are all of us to keep the politicians accountable year round?

Joe you are right on this one - GET INVOLVED ABERDEEN - there is alot of things people do not like - so show up and talk about it and get it on public record.....

Kauff does not like it when people question the millions he funnels to his precious CME. I sure hope Njoe does not end up like Councilwoman Gallo and our former Town Manager Stewart Brown. They got uncerimoniuosly kicked to the curb for daring to look into and question the taxpayer millions paid to CME or in Stewarts case for cutting off and questioning the Kauff funding circus under the D's. After all the only thing that matters is $$$$ for CME and Kauff's D's.

So sorry to rain on the parade of those who are harolding the departure of Dr. O'Malley.... you should really check your facts before spouting your mouths...don't you get tired of prooving your foolish stupidity?

The Board of Education Monday night appointed James Crisfield as the district's next superintendent with a five-year contract worth $219,500 in the first year.
By unanimously approving the contract and his appointment, Crisfield will become the district's next superintendent on July 1. He comes from the Warren School District and was first introduced to the public in February. Crisfield was not at the meeting Monday night.
As part of his benefits, the contract requires Crisfield to contribute 2 percent to his health plan at the family level coverage and 1.5 percent of his salary for any other level of coverage.
Under his contract, Crisfield would have 24 annual vacation days. Of those days, 10 days could be carried over to the following year, but they could not be carried further than the next year. He also would have five personal days, which cannot be carried over.
The contract also includes 100 sick days carried over from Crisfield's current job in the Warren School District. Sam Levy, the board's Superintendent Search Committee chairman, said the carry over of sick days is commonly done in other school districts.
Jeffrey Diecidue, a member of the public, questioned the criteria that would be used to review Crisfield, but Levy said the board was advised to not comment. When pressed, though, Levy said the board has used a criteria form set by the New Jersey Association of Boards of Education, but it doesn't always use the form.
The Board of Education presented Crisfield as its choice as the next superintendent in February. State law, however, forced the school board to wait until after the school election to appoint him as the next superintendent officially. He will take over as the district's superintendent on July 1 after Schools Supt. Richard Brodow retires. Brodow announced last May he would retire after eight years with the district.
Crisfield currently serves as the superintendent in the Warren School District, which is a K-8 district. He's been with the Warren School district for nine years.
He started his teaching career at Summit High School before serving as a business administrator with the East Hanover Board of Education. He served as assistant superintendent in Warren before becoming superintendent in 2004.
He is a Stanford University graduate and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after college. He earned his masters of arts in teaching from Boston College and his doctor of education and master of education from Rutgers University.

Kauff and CME is where all the tax money goes anyway. So true. Kauff and his CME really suck! They all suck the life out of the taxpayers. They will suck every ounce of blood and they take every breath out of all of us. I can't wait till they are taken down. Keep thinking it won't happen Kauffkins. Right up until they slap the cuffs on all of you.

Deerfield Park did not look to bad when we drove by there today. Another taxpayer overreaction? Or a really stupid attempt to slam Joe again. I think it has be a foot tall to be a problem anyway. It was not a foot for sure. How does your lawn look nosey? Get a life?

Moving van on Justice Lane? said...

I'm looking out my window and I thought I saw a moving van pull onto Justice Lane. Nope it was UPS. Damn I thought the block could get rid of its blemish We hear that Norm is moving also. We would be overjoyed we can assure. Don't get us wrong Mrs. kauff is all right with us. We would not miss that pompous ass Norm one bit.

Bet it looks better than joey's lawn.

Hey Deerfield grass - that was no attempt to slam anyone. Just said the grass was getting a little high and it's definitely higher than it usually is. Considering the lack of rain we've had, it probably hasn't been mowed/trimmed in quite a while. My lawn looks pretty good thank you.....

I dont get the Dr. O above?...?

- are they replacing Mr. Glastein? From within? If so will that position be refilled = no tax payer savings?

Politician hospitalized? said...

Anyone hear if a local politician is in the hospital? A buddy of mine at work said his sister is a nurse and that some politician from Matawan or Aberdeen was on her floor recovering from surgery.
Put your ear to the ground Aberdeener and check this one out. Maybe one of Aberdeen corrupt council members or Will Shetton had to be surgically removed from kissing Kauffs ass?

Yes Normy our network is huge.

Listen soon and you may hear Normy yell for all to hear

HOW DO THY FIND THESE THINGS OUT?

Good morning Normy enjoy the day. Seeings how your days may be numbered that is. Seems the FEDS may be closing in. You see Normy we got to the Governor and he knows your name and our taxpayers plight here in Aberdeen.

Cherish every moment Normy. The few you have left that is.

Up Kauff's ass said...

I think it is spelled Bill Shenton. That is the guy who always has his nose up Kauff's ass. Get the corrupt Kauff idiots straight please. Then again the list of people who have their noses or...up Kauff's ass is a long one.

OK, a few facts of life here. Much as some who post here would like it (I would), the Feds are not closing in on Norman Kauff. The guy covers his tracks far too well, unlike some of the amateurs in Marlboro and other towns. This guy has been a power broker in Democratic politics for longer than some people have been alive; you don't get that way by being sloppy. Or careless. A federal prosecutor will go for sure convictions, not acquittals.
CME (not CM&E) as a firm is also a heavy hitter with the Dems. They are a major funding source for Democrats around the state. People may have hunches or suspicions, but hunches don't get convictions.
Coren is just gross. The fact that he was probably committing his crimes here and on township time and that someone may have known about and covered for him is enough to make me yak up my lunch. He bribed the police down in Florida; is it a stretch to wonder whether he did that in Aberdeen? Yet he may actually return to our community upon his release from prison.
Is there bad stuff going on here in Aberdeen? Judging from the venom spewed at Mr. Warren (some approaching antisemitism), NSectionJoe and others when they appear to get too close to the truth, I would say yes there is. Just look at how they ramped up the rhetoric a few months ago with the COAH meeting.
What is to be done?
Wishin', thinkin' hopin' 'n' prayin' that the feds come and take Kauff away won't make it happen. Even if you wish really really hard on a wishing star. If anyone has any information about criminal activity, bring it to the authorities, be it the US Attorney or the Monmouth County prosecutor.
If people want to keep posting here, fine, but maybe it's time to reach a wider audience. Write to the papers, Asbury Park press and Independent. Eventually they'll print something. They do from other towns.
Attend council meetings. Not just when there's something big in your backyard, but show up regularly. It's all our community. Bring your friends. These guys hate crowds but they also know that the crowds will go away eventually and it'll go back to just the friendly faces of Augie and Vito in the audience. Make the 1st and 3rd Tuesday into "Pack the House Night". Send them a message the crowds ain't going away this time. If the papers know that Aberdeen's meetings are exciting, they will show up. Get up, get into it, get involved.
Finally, the best way to get at Kauff is to cut off his power source. (Aberdeen Republicans take note) If his Democrats lose their majority on the council next year, CME is gone and Norman's money tree cut down. With no money to feed it Kauff's power will dry up.
Hopefully next year that will happen, but people should start standing up, speaking up and showing up now.
