The Republican Response

Dear Aberdeener:

As the Republican candidate for Mayor, thank you for the opportunity to respond to your open questions regarding the state of our town. As many of your posters have noted, the Republican candidates, Anthony Garaguso, Sheilah Balavram and Mike Vail and I, have been out walking door to door in our community for the past two months, talking to our neighbors and listening, - in fact, a lot of listening. In case there is any question – ABERDEEN – WE HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR! You had had enough and want change and accountability from your local officials.

You told us you want transparent government – not back room dealing.
You told us you want real financial control – not gimmicks and giveaways.
You told us you want real tax stability – not election year trickery.
You told us you want a vision and goal to make Aberdeen a community we can be proud of – not a place where the select few get the perks.

The same party has been in control for over a decade. In 2007, in return for your vote, they promised more accountability and a pay to play ordinance. Come 2009 – nothing. In 2007 they promised you senior housing – Come 2009 – nothing. In 2007 they promised you a revitalized beachfront - Come 2009 – nothing.

I will not promise you things I can not deliver, but I will pledge to you that if I am elected:

• First, a pay to play ordinance will be introduced for a vote before July 1, 2010 and I will vote in favor of that ordinance;

• Second, I will not seek election to more than two terms. New blood and new ideas are vital to good governance and allowing perpetual tenure of elected officials leads to a mentality of corruption and entitlement;

• Third, any monies paid by Aberdeen Township to anyone will be posted online for public scrutiny and review and all matters of public concern will be open and transparent. All meetings, public or private, attended by me as Mayor will be posted for public review. Lastly, I will make myself available on a weekly basis to discuss any matters of concern with any resident during evenings and weekends;

• Fourth, I will convene a series of public meeting in ALL areas of our community to map out our strategic vision, priorities and an achievable set of long range goals that we, as a community, hope to reach. Without public input and agreement on our goals and priorities, we merely end up floating where the tide takes us. Conversely, if we all know where we are going and we all row a little, together we can achieve great things;

• Fifth, I will actively seek out ways to ensure our seniors can remain in their homes and vibrant members of the community via volunteerism or other community based programs;

• Sixth; I will not accept any contribution from any developer who has business in Aberdeen, nor will I place a developer or their cronies in official positions such as the COAH mediation team as the present council did. Our town is not for sale to developers. Development must be balanced to ensure our local resources are properly preserved;

• Seventh; when a financial problem faces the community, I will not take the quick fix for the sake of my re-election. This year, instead of facing the town’s distressing financial situation head on, Mr. Tagliarini and the Council voted to side step the issue by taking money from the library and not making payments into the pension fund. Unfortunately, taking library money is a one time fix and the deferral of the pension payments means the money will have to be paid back in the future, leaving next years budget in the red before the year even starts. I pledge to face all issues which come before me as Mayor with the best interest of the Township as my first and only concern. If that means it will cause me a political problem in the future – so be it;

• Eighth; Aberdeen expends far more money on engineering, legal and professional services than other comparably sized communities in Monmouth County. Why – because these are the very people who fund the current party in power. In return for the volume of work they are given by the Council, they contribute handsomely to the Aberdeen Democratic Party. In 2007, the Democratic Party expended over $50,000 to win the election. Guess where the money came from. I pledge to thoroughly investigate the excessive amount paid to these professional consultants and further promise that the all future professional contracts will go to the lowest responsible professional service provider – not the best donor to the party;

The residents of Aberdeen deserve to know where the candidates stand on these issues and many others discussed on this blog. To that end, I have invited Mr. Tagliarini to join me in an open public forum in October to fully discuss and debate these issues. Click here to link to that letter. All of the glossy fliers, slick political mailers and campaign money mean nothing if the residents do not know where their candidates stand on the issues. I certainly hope Mr. Tagliarini agrees join me to have an open and frank discussion about the issues facing our community. I ask all members of the Aberdeen community to join us, question us and demand answers.

In the end, I ask for your vote because Aberdeen deserves better than we have received in the past decade. But, in addition to your vote, I also ask for your involvement. I believe it is only by each of us contributing in some small part that we will be able to build a community in which we all take great pride. Finally, if you should honor me with your vote, I must ask that you tell me your concerns about the state of our community. I fully expect residents to question me frequently on any matter of public concern and demand I fully and directly answers questions. After placing your trust in me with your vote, you deserve no less. Should anyone wish to contact me, my e-mail address is TGAljian@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Tom Aljian

Candidate Aljian i make the following recommendations to you once again.

1. The newspapers like the Independent and APP are crucial in getting your message out as well as the examples of impropriety and outright corruption that exist in our community. One of the most important thing is the monies spent, some say gifted and subsequently returned to the Democratic Party through campaign contributions and professional fees.

To paraphrase "it's all about the money". It is the money that will be the proof in the pudding to most every voter. This is especially true in these tough economic times.

If you do not highlight these type of things in concert with the vast developmental costs for school children and the needed construction, which is to be approved as soon as the election is over. We are not going to allow our area to be the excuse for C.O.A.H. to be implemented with projects and trouble that follows these types of projects no matter who stands to profit through corrupt dealings and backroom deals.

These ideas and many more have been stated before. You have failed to address these in public meetings while on the record and you should have been doing this meeting after meeting after meeting.

I applaud your efforts but sincerely hope it is not too late. You will have my vote and the other five in my household. I will be voting for a complete and total change in government as change is good and the costs of the past years under Norman Kauff are too high.

Good luck!

I will make a bet that the Republican's if they ever get elected switch from CME to T&M Associates. T&M are the Republican's engineering firm, same problems different company. Mr.Aljian, would you promise you would not just give them every job? Would you promise/swear that they must bid on all contracts? I have a problem believing everything you are selling.

Tom Aljian said...

I can promise that no professional firms, Legal, Engineering, Accounting, or otherwise, will be given any work without a bidding/proposal process to ensure the Town's cost is fair and reasonable and that the firms are qualified to do the work.

Further, I can promise that the scope of work given to the professional firms will be limited and closely monitored - there will be no blank checks like those the Democrats currently give to CME, the Town Attorneys or others who, in turn, financially support the Democrats to keep the money train rolling.

This is tax payer money we are talking about. When the all Democratic Council pays excessive amounts to its professions, who in turn then “donate” the town Democratic Party, it essentially becomes the Council invading the town treasury to fund their campaign. It is simply wrong.

Mr. Aljian,

Nearly all of your pledges (responsible development, transparency in spending, cutting fees to town professionals, ensuring seniors' homes are affordable, etc.) focus on easing the town government's financial burden on Aberdeen taxpayers. However, I ask that you explain further:

1) How do you intend to prevent developers who own land in Aberdeen from building large (and tax burdensome) residential developments when it is their right to do so within the confines of the land use/zoning laws?

2) How do you intend to curtail unfavorable COAH developments when they are mandated by NJ state law?

3) How much more does Aberdeen spend on its professionals than other comparable towns, what towns are you referring to, and how can Aberdeen cut professional spending?

4) I think you're misinformed on the library funds issue. According to local media, both Matawan and Aberdeen overfunded the library for years and then requested the return of unused taxpayers' money, i.e. the towns did not "take" money from the library. Regardless, how would you have drafted this year's town budget, as opposed to the "trickery" by the current council?

Finally, and most importantly, the Aberdeen's budget is about $15 million, while the MARSD budget is over $60 million. That is to say that the school board is more than four times the burden on taxpayers as the town is.

I'd like to vote for you, but I've heard terrific and critical ideas on this blog before. They came from Mr. Warren for a long time before he was elected to the Board of Education. Then, once elected, he became a clown/cronie just like the rest of the Board. He forgot his pledges to taxpayers when he voted for massive pay increases for the administrators who sit next to him every other Monday.

I just hope you can keep your pledges when you make yourself a second term lame-duck with nothing to lose...

Mr. Aljian go for the throat or go home. The anonymously undecided who questions you here this evening has questions for you but silence for our present leadership. He or she does have some good points and is sadly not familiar perhaps with the decade plus long fleecing by Kauff and Crew of the town coffers. Only those attached at the hip, beholding, in favor, who make contributions and far more get any work in Aberdeen from Kauff. Does he or she know that when a $3,000,000.00 road program is approved it garners CME Engineering Inc. a fee of 20%. Should not one person ask what did CME do to earn a $600,000.00 fee. Of that fee you can be sure at least 10% went to Kauff and Crew on just that one item. The annual checks written on the taxpayer dime to CME is rumored to be an average of $1,400,000.00 annually. That is each and every year since Kauff took over add it up. Add to that the legal service fees Kauff was paid while he was the Town Attorney, even though it is said that he often sent underlings and charged the same exorbitant fee as if he was there. This got Kauff in trouble and a considerable amount of press in other local towns. Just Google the name Norman Kauff Town Attorney and see what comes up. No press or rebuke in Aberdeen over the underling thing since he had the now convicted sexual predator on his puppet string. Add to the millions in CME fees other assorted Kauff friends and even some of his same office building neighbors for instance. Some it is said were the accounting firm of Fallon and Fallon, Copola and Copola Planning Group, and other professionals all who pay homage to Kauff annually. All of these who were here from day one of the Kauff reign. I almost forgot the Of Counsel moniker that now allows Kauff a paycheck from Rogut McCarthy Troy the Aberdeen Township legal eagles (?) who Kauff controls. All of this is some cottage industry for Kauff and not just in Aberdeen. Kauff also controls and is payed homage in Manalapan, Hazlet and Marlboro. Such a busy man our Kauff is. Then their is the developmental meetings that as recently described Kauff controls as well. The costs of that have never really come forward since all Kauff seems to be able to accomplish is one expensive CME study after expensive CME study with little coming out of the ground. However, that out of the ground thing is rumored to be changing as soon as the election is over. Kauff is getting old and it is time to break open the piggy bank for the Kauff retirement fund. Nothing says retirement like developmental approvals. Right Mr. Kauff? Yet he or she who questions you asks you to answer for the Kauff wrongdoings and corruption. I would answer them honestly and hope that with the few council meetings left he or she asks the council and Kauff controlled candidates their thoughts on the exact same questions. It just seems so strange that a man who has never been elected to public office can run the entire show and without one spec of accountability to anyone. I for one hope God is paying very close attention to our Mr. Kauff and that he is turned away from the pearly gates when Kauff reaches room temperature. Some would say that was harsh? Too bad Kauff I say since Kauff has raped this community for far too long, and it must be stopped. Far too many have lived under the Kauff dictatorship or have been forced to leave the community they love because of him. I am not the man known as THE TRUTH but this is the truth just the same. Right Mr. Kauff?

PlumberDave said...

I agree with Sam Clemens. The people you meet as you campaign don't know about the true costs of Kauff. Just give them a Top 10 like Letterman uses. The Kauff 10 if you want. List the fees paid to all of the professionals each year since Kauff swept in. This will help sweep him and all of his bunch out.

Pinch Hitting for THE TRUTH said...

Anonymous #1 you seek promises from a candidate but you are silent on the corruption you know in fact exists in our present leadership. Get real for once.

Anonymous #2 Land can be developed but with requirements which keep costs to the community in check not in Kauff's pockets. Senior housing commercial land staying as a commercial tax benefit and not gifted by Kauff to be residential, many more such rules can be put or kept in place with many properties in Aberdeen far more punisihing to the taxpayers. To say nothing of the numbers of homes squeezed into said properties. COAH is being fought by many communities. Ask yourself why our town has not joined them in the fight and sought relief from the school taxes that would only increase with the Kauff gifts to favored and donating developers. Spending on professional services can be cut when you seek bids for such services and not merely maintain the Kauff fiefdom of power that we pay for in the millions each year. Aberdeen could do like Middletown and hire and in house engineer and staff such an office for far less money after the initial start up.
The Library thing was mishandled and had a surplus unknown to many. Its function, budget and necessity in this technological age needs to be looked into on behalf of the whole. The costs of education are high of course but no higher or less needed to be watched then a man who answers to no one runs a community with an iron fist, silent representatives beholding to him alone and professionals who can steal all they can bill for as long as they pay the piper. Kauff must be stopped unless you do not see the writing on the walls that a change for the better should be tried rather then keeping the crooks we know we already have. Along with those who are waiting in the wings to merely mark time who are just people with different faces who are no less dangerous to the taxpayers or no less beholding to Kauff.

That is the reality of Aberdeen.

Road improvements seems to be the barometer for how much our leadership is supposed to care about the residents while much of everything else decays around them.

As a senior center program participant I ask all of you to go by the Noble Place property where our community runs its senior citizen programs. Then we can talk about decay. The building has been falling down for many areas. We were told a couple of years ago that a new facility for us was to happen or at least a rebuilding of the house on Noble Place was soon to commence. What happened to those promises?

That was a lie just like the senior housing on Church Street we have been told about. I hoped to be living in that building by now since it is getting harder to maintain my home each year. I agree a change is long overdue.

I just got back from a business trip and headed for the Huskie football game straight from the airport. While driving over I came to the realization that I must be the only Italian in Aberdeen that does not have a democratic party political sign on my front lawn. Mr. Vincy must be able to pay his whole tax bill off this year with the money Mr. K. will have to pay him for getting all of these sign locations all around Aberdeen. How is it Mr. Vincy let a guy named Cannon be on the ticket? Tagliarin(i), Laur(o)and Montone(e). See what I mean. I am not some self hating Italian by the way, I just hate corruption and the corrupt political Mafia that is holding Aberdeen hostage under Mr. K..

How many Democratic signs do you think are going to make it into the County Road area with Mr. K. shoving his section 8 projects down our throats? Not so fast Mr. K. as there are an awful lot of votes over here and unless the projects get shut down and we get written assurances they will not be built, you can write off most of the County Road area for sure.

My wife and I can't wait for the Democrats to knock on our door and ask us to vote for them. They better bring an overnight bag with them as we have about two hundred questions written down to ask them. If they don't come to this side of town with their lies, my wife and I will see them at Aberdeen Day. We like the home court advantage anyway and a very public location like Aberdeen Day will be just fine. They will not be able to cut and run or hand us off then run down the court. This election will not be the slam dunk that Mr. K. thinks it will be. Bet on that at least in this area of Aberdeen Mr. K. so jump ball!

As for Vinci, not Vincy by the way StemlerDrckgin, do you think Vinci tells the property owners about all of his $1.00 land acquisitions. Town property that Vinci was gifted politically as he seeks permission for these sign locations? I doubt it. People like Vinci know no shame. Don't get me wrong I think the democratic ticket takes two out of the four spots if the republicans don't kick it up a notch and very soon. To say nothing of not confronting the Mayoral candidate on his Norman Kauff orchestrated voting record. That cost us all a pretty penny. To say nothing of his unsportsmanlike conduct and favoritism. Don't think Fred is an easy sell Norman. I don't agree with the italian thing at all. I will say that you can be sure they are calling in every favor owed to Vinci this year.

Anonymous said...

Dems by two to one margin is unfortunately a strong possibility. The Republicans will only have themselves to blame for not going for the throat, not only this year but for a long Kauff time. The professional fees and far more pain that the council and Sobel also allowed to happen. They are all guilty of contrition before, during and after the fact.

Tagliarini as stated above is a major contributor and approver of the Ciaglia family dynasty, but then so to are many others who did Kauff's bidding with a wink and a nod or under direct orders from Kauff. Their are many more who did Kauff's bidding behind the scenes to allow Ciaglia his approvals. I still laugh each and every time I drive down Cambridge Drive from the bus. $680,000.00 in Aberdeen. They are getting hat they deserve at long last. Greedy scum that they are.

So when you see the political campaign signs for the Dems you need to know that other then Candidate Cannon the rest of them all have been under Kauff's wing and have cost us all a great deal of money '$15,000,000.00 to CME alone. If they say that is not true they are of course liars. They are after all politicians. Never forget that.

I also agree Vinnie will be calling in every favor this year. He is next to seek reelection I think. Unless the Feds have other plans. Please God come to Aberdeen and strike these corrupt politicians asunder with your might sword.

How much was Vinci paid this year to put up those pretty signs?

Who did the printing?

Is it a rule that all Fire Commissioners in Vinci and Lauro's Fire District have to have those signs cemented into their lawns?

Who actually installed the signs? Volunteers? Not if history repeats itself. Township employees (not while working of course)?

Nice signs, but hardly the product of a grassroots campaign. The signs are just more proof of what Tagliarini's pay-to-play financed campaign is willing to do to win.

More proof that Tagliarini has sold out this town.

More proof that Tagliarini and Lauro are more loyal to Kauff, Ciaglia, and CME than they are to Aberdeen.

More reason for the D to vote R this year.

If Lauro and Tag win it is proof that money can buy elections. These are the two people that were lockstep with Kauff when they served on the Planning Board. Lockstep with Kauff on his fundraising effort. Lockstep with Vinci and the rest of our self-absorbed Council.

Lauro and Tag may be nice guys but they don't deserve my vote or the trust of this community.

Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Voting for Kauff's handpicked candidates was a mistake for the last 12 years and going with Lauro and Tagliarini would do nothing to stop us from empowering Kauff's pay-to-play machine.

This is a control election. A win for any one Democrat keeps the Council in Kauff's hands. Don't be foolish.

Anonymous said...

The hundreds of signs are the product of the Dem candidates personally knowing half the town, not "pay-to-play.". How do you think that happened? Lauro- 40+ years of residency and public employment starting as a laborer for the public works dept. Tagliarini 20+ year resident and decades of service to the local children's sports leagues. Montone lifelong resident and former Board of Education member. Cannon lifelong resident, product of the local schools, and volunteer at the local church. How much more "grassroots" can you get? BTW - how many of the people with signs were pressured to accept them under the Vinci style of politics? How many of the signs are on the elderly people's houses who are afraid to say NO!? How many of the signs are on Ciaglia properties? How many of the signs are on the lawns of the people that have the most to lose with a Republican victory, the entrenched blood suckers who leech off the town?

T & M will be in with the Republicans.

The Aberdeen Republican Committee received $7,200 from T&M Associates on October 23, 2006. (It is completely legal for the Aberdeen GOP to receive money from T&M since there are no Republicans currently serving on the Aberdeen Township Council and therefore couldn't vote on an engineering appointment for the town.)

Curiously, the Aberdeen GOP contributed $5,000 to the Monmouth GOP on October 24, 2006. That's right - the day after T&M contributed over $7K, $5K was wheeled over the county.

I say "wheeled" because T&M is an engineering firm for the county. They could not legally contribute to the Monmouth GOP (even though that didn't seem to stop the firm when it came to doing business in Middletown). Sending the money through the Aberdeen GOP's account essentially cleans the money, allowing T&M and the county GOP to violate the spirit of the pay-to-play regulations, though not the law.

Also of note is a contribution of $2,000 by Gibbons, Del Deo, Griffinger & Vecchione on November 11, 2006. (Gibbons, Del Deo is the county's bond counsel. Aberdeen Republicans can legally take money from Gibbons, Del Deo, but the county GOP cannot.)

Why might Gibbons, Del Deo be contributing to the losing Aberdeen GOP after the Nov. 7, 2006 elections, you might ask? I'd be curious to know that as well. What we do know is that the Aberdeen GOP was generous enough to put down a $3,000 deposit on December 23, 2006 for the county GOP's 2007 Lincoln Day dinner at the Addison (formerly the Garden Manor).

Interestingly enough, the contributions by Gibbons, Del Deo and T&M were the only major contributions received by the Aberdeen GOP last quarter. And, aside from $1,000 for what appears to be a municipal event, the only major expenses by the Aberdeen GOP were the Lincoln Day deposit and the contribution to the Monmouth County GOP.

Taken from the Bayshore Journalista blog. These guys are the dems version of CME.

Anon 11:41 a.m.,

It's not laughable, but hilarious that you think the hundreds of signs around town are all the result of pay-to-play politics and strong-arm tactics...

Maybe they're the result of Lauro always returning phone calls as the director of public works and quickly responding to residents' complaints for the last two decades? Maybe they're the result of Tagliarini's work with thousands of children in town? Maybe they're the result of Montone and Cannon being lifelong residents and their families' deep involvement in the community? Maybe they're even the result of Vinci, but probably because he is also a lifelong resident, retired Aberdeen police officer and volunteer fireman, not because he's brow-beating old ladies into putting signs on their lawns...

Or, perhaps they're the product of the Republicans' virtual anonymity? Or, perhaps the signs are all over the place because the only people in town supporting uninvolved, unknown candidates are those with personal vendettas or something to gain, apparently like anonymous you and/or former democratic councilman turned republican chairman Minutolo?

Or, perhaps the signs are in the same places as previous elections because the Dems have continued to maintain relationships with the same people in the same community for more than four years? Wouldn't be surprising given that Cannon and Montone were born here and graduated from MRHS along with Lauro. Wouldn't be surprising given that Tagliarini has run sports leagues in town since his adult son was playing little league. Wouldn't be surprising given that Vinci and Lauro have been either town employees or volunteer firemen since I moved here.

What would be surprising is if you maintained any relationship within the community for more than four minutes, let alone four years, given your nasty remarks, conspiracy theories and general attitude toward anyone who disagrees with you...

Here is the reality of sign placement Kauff style.

Every firemen will have to put a sign up as Vinci and Lauro are fire commisioners over them.

Same goes for a good majority of public employees who are supervised or report to Vinci, Lauro and Tagliarini.

Every developer who wants to, has built or will want to build in Aberdeen and that have benefited from votes by Tagliarini, Lauro, Ciaglia, Vinci and all the rest of those who Kauff controls.

Developers who are also funding this election and the soon to be Kauff retirement fund. Developers to possibly build 1300+ - homes soon to be a very sorrowful and burdensome reality. Lets say just 400 kids come out of those homes at $13,000.00 per student. Do the math Kauff won't. Kauff rather take the money as he CORRUPTLY defers developers taxes and payments away from the school district. That was a Koren trick.

All the people Vinci ran numbers for years ago.

The entire Oakshades area.

And the list goes on and on and on...

A vote for this kauff slate of candidates is a vote to continue CORRUPTION.

I await the ignorant anonymous response we all know will occur.

Give me a break! Tagliarini just wants to feed his ego by becoming Mayor and if he has to owe Kauff for doing so, then so be it.

Lauro is giving away the great respect he rightfully earned over the last 40 years. He sold out for an inflated pension and blind loyalty to his mentor, Vinci.

Cannon is not a lifelong resident. It is questionable if he has lived in Aberdeen long enough to legally be on the ballot.

Money and politics.

Money corrupts.

Politics is corrupt.

There is a hazardous trend in politics recently which only allows those with the most money to spread around to win. Issues are no longer important as is the obvious sad truth caused by the above.

It is said that Governor Corzine will spend $1,000,000.00 a day starting on October 1st. to win the election.

It is obvious from all of the signs I have seen on Route 35 while driving home from work tonight, that our own money hording, morally corrupt and the completely politically corrupt Mr. Norman Kauff has started the campaign to continue his corrupt control over Aberdeen quite a bit earlier then Governor Corzine.

Mr. Norman Kauff has started spending the C.M.&E money, oops I mean the Democratic party campaign monies very early to drive the names of his candidates into the mind of every resident of Aberdeen, whether they like it or not. This questionably given campaign money obviously being spent so early must be so desperately needed in order to maintain Mr. Norman Kauffs corrupt control over Aberdeen that Mr. Norman Kauff risks over saturation. Money is most important to C.M&E., oops I mean Mr. Norman Kauff and as I stated above it is the needed infusion of blood for every political campaign. It is likewise the largest corrupting factor also. Anyone who has lived here the last twelve years under Mr. Norman Kauff can attest to those facts. Looking at the sign locations can tell you that. And looking at the slate of candidates can tell you that. Mr. Norman Kauff is Aberdeen like it or not. I don't like it one bit. Just so you know that Mr. Norman Kauff one person despises all you stand for and all that you represent that is wrong with my America. Your day will come Mr. Norman Kauff whther it be with a knock on the door or when you meet your maker. I despise you!

I repeat once again:

Money and politics.

Politics is corrupt.

Money corrupts politics.

I must add to that when it comes to the true driving force of our Mr. Norman Kauff. In Aberdeen it is a bit more.

In Aberdeen money and future developmental approvals corrupts.
Do not count your money you have demanded from the County Road project just yet Mr. Norman Kauff. We have a few plans for you so send your candidates to our doors. We have a few questions.

A debate of the candidates in public will never happen. You may as well have asked for full and public disclosure on the developmental meetings, secret council member land deals, totals of monies paid to professional services that are paid for with millions annually with taxpayer monies, the reasons for Norman Kauff to be involved with any decisions or developmental approvals since he has no accountability, the selection process for new management, reasons for the silence clause on former managers, reasons council meetings are not recorded in this technologically easy age, and many more things the dictator of Aberdeen does not ever want to be made public. The next thing you will ask for is a disclosure of the local Aberdeen democratic parties budget and donation listing. Like Kauff would ever want that made public. Nice try though with the Tagliarini debate thing. Too bad the republican party is always behind the 8 ball simply because the party repeatedly fail to bring forth that which matters most, the money and Norman Kauff. He may not be running for election on the actual ticket but that does not mean he is immune from the voters knowing the damage and control he wields, or the cost for his no accountability type leadership. Less the 50 days till election day. Kauff must be put out of our lives and out of the Aberdeen residents wallets and purses.

The Great and Powerful Norm said...

Will you still be chirping the day after election day? I doubt it. You will probably be too busy trying to stop the bleeding from the beating I give you at the polls.

Aljian, why don't you ask Tagliarini at the council meeting tonight to debate, this way in a month when he denies you ever contacted him there will be a record of your proposed debate? I would just cover the bases with these guys, I would also ask a couple of hard hitting questions tonight, maybe CME and road work, Seawall project, COAH and Kauff. We would all love to learn more, grow a set and ask!

StemlerDrckgin said...

In what will more than likely be another futile effort by our underfunded and fearful to ask the tough question type candidates we all must bow to the master of local election planning Norman Kauff.

But just answer one question. How many people would vote for his ticket if they knew the true cost of Kauff.

It is all about the money, secret developmental deals, secret campaign donations, parking lot shakedowns, secret land deals and all the rest we know of Kauff and his corruption.

Mr. Aljian you have a little more then two council meetings. Put a list together, send the list to the editors of the local newspapers and television crew and get them to be present. Ask the questions, get the reaction and press coverage. Then you and your slate of candidates might stand a chance. Otherwise another failed effort with Kauff remaining in corrupt control is all we get from your time and effort. You know you and your slate will be outspent, out publicized and worse with the vast amounts of C.M.&E. money
that Kauff has squirled away or available with just a call to his Dave Samules, developers that are eager to get started as soon as the election is over and others kept from the public by secret meetings and more.
If you are to go down at least go down fighting and disclosing the corrupt Kauff and his henchmen, flunkies and hangers on.

Candidate Aljian,

You will be outspent, out-lied, out signed and more. Give it your best shot and most of all FIGHT.

There is still time to get your word out or at least the truth about the past 12 plus years of Kauff control and corruption.

Mr. Aljian I will be voting for your entire slate of candidates. My respect for the Mayoral candidate and Jimmy has been vanquished to the ends of the earth since they have come under the corrupt control of Kauff. My disappointment in them knows no bounds. When as has been stated before that early morning knock comes from the authorities I hope they both remember the warnings they were given and the fact that they turned from respected and involved members of our community to political pawns. Gone are the days of politicians like Tom Powers and all we are left with are the likes of a corrupt Norman Kauff.

I do not have long left to stay in Aberdeen as the taxes are choking me. So in spite of my children's absence from the school roles for over twenty plus years now I must scrimp and save just to stay afloat.

My plight is no different than many others I am sure. I will soon leave the town I have called home for warmer climes. I will hope to get a subscription to our Independent newspaper to keep up on local news.

Good luck.

Speaking of republican response what do you think the republican candidates will ask about at the council meeting? It is reported that they ask about problems that effect themselves. WHAT ABOUT THE BIG PICTURE? If they fail to ask the tough questions in the next few council meetings then it is over. Just look at the political signage that is out already for Kauff. Forget the glossy mailers yet to arrive promising the world or proclaiming their qualifications or fraternal memberships. The only membership that matters is the corrupt oath the candidates have taken to join Club Kauff. Although that club may soon be meeting God willing in a Club Fed prison facility. Not an awful lot of signs in Cliffwood have gone up especially on my street. We have our own flier soon going out to make sure if the Kauff candidates come knocking or calling and attempt to be looking for votes, that our people are ready to ask the tough questions. The projects Kauff wants to allow in our backyards is our number one priority. Ignoring us means ignoring the taxpayers for whom they work for. Ignore us no more Kauff.

Another Tax increase for Aberdeen.

Tonight, Fred Tagliarini and the Democratic Council voted to approve the 2009 Budget which includes a 4.38% tax increase per Aberdeen CFO Angela Morin. Only Councilman Perry voted no. Per the resolution, 2009-100, a total of $8,206,029 is to be “raised by taxation,” an increase of almost $400K from the 2008 budget of $7,817,398.

This $400K increase in taxation is AFTER the pension deferral and Library funds were used as one trick budget gimmicks to smooth the budget. In short, the Council decided not to pay some $450K into the State pension fund this year and simply put the payment off to some future date plus interest. Further, the Council decided to use $188K in funds from the Library it says were overpaid to further help beef up the budget numbers. As such, we move into 2010 in the hole by $650K, a recipe for future property tax increases in the coming years.

I can not be any clearer - The madness has to stop.
I know many of you reading this blog agree.

We can take back control of our community.
We can have responsible local government.
We can be proud of our community.

I ask for whatever help you can give - Your time, a contribution, a talk with your neighbors, whatever it takes to move from a single party rule to an open and transparent form of local governance.

Mr. Aljian you forgot to leave out that the total increase in your tax bill will be $52 fo the year, considering the economy and what other towns are doing I think the council did a pretty goood job. Oh, another thing when you ask a question about something you should know what you are taliking about. You made a fool of yourself last night, by not knowing the budget went down not up. You and Garagusa should not talk at meetings, please let Vail talk he seems like the only one that knows whta he is talking about. You are hurting our chances for change. By the way the Mayor answered your question about the $650,000 hole for next year, he told you straiht out that their would be a saving from health insurance of $450,000 plus a rebate they will be giving back to the town. Pleas if you are going to write something, tell the whole thing not bits and pieces.

The only way healthcare costs go down is if you lose coverage or something comes back later and bites you on the other end. Just like school construction everything is an EXTRA. They are taking money from the library, granted it is a surplus, but are relying on it again for next year. They are defering the pension payment, which I don't like and will hurt us in the future. They are saving money with a switch in health care plan, or it seems they will, both of you need to be more honest. I will miss Perry as well, I like Vail and Garagusa and wish them good luck!

Count on the following next year:

1. Municipal employees in Aberdeen will be cut similarly to the manner in which some municipalities in our Monmouth County were forced to do this year.

2. Taxes will rise *incredibly* in Aberdeen since the state is facing draconian cuts in every nook and cranny of their own budgets. That will be the case for next year and beyond. That is unless and until the people rise up and stop the corrupt Kauff style Pay to Play that pervades our form of government.

3. Municiapl professionals like CM&E and all of the other Kauff leeches will continue to fleece the taxpayers without a speck of questioning by the newly elected candidates. That is of course IF Kauff and his slate stay in complete and total corrupt control.

4. The sacred road program will even be cut next year. This will be done since it is not an election year for the remaining Kauff faithful who use the road program politically. How much do you think the Dems have funneled to CM&E over the past twelve years off of the Kauff road programs? It is said over $7,000,000.00. Plus another $8,000,000.00 for other assorted work they are gifted.

Aberdeen leadership will of course blame the economy and the lack of adequate funding from Trenton. But don't worry Kauff and all of the others will continue to feed at the trough of the Aberdeen taxpayers.

Get out and vote! Or shut up!

So let me see if I understand you, no one has been fired, layed-off or furloughed and the township gets no credit, even though neighboring towns, companies and government agencies have and are doing it? Your second point is that Aberdeen's taxes will raise *incredibly* due to the state and you blame it on Aberdeen? Another great point? I just hope you are not a republican candidate because you make NO SENSE! I will agree on one point, get out and vote if you want a change.

Aberdeen's present leadership deferred over a half million dollars in pension payments. (Possible eventual costs with interest $650,000.00+). A few other smoke and mirror type tricks coupled with one shot sources were used to keep an even keel.

But ask yourself

Did leadership cut professional service fees?

Did leadership go out to bid for all professional services required by a municipal government?

Will leadership do that next year knowing the very real budget deficits that are eventual?

Did leadership seek outside revenue sources or sponsorships to defer costs?

Did leadership increase fines and penalties in police enforcement areas of the budget to increase revenue?

Did leadership cut salaries or ask for give backs from any contracted, union or management salaries?

Did leadership renegotiate any previously settled or pending contracts?

Did leadership ask employees for ideas on costs savings within the town?

Did leadership seek assistance from professionals within the community?

Did leadership consolidate positions in an effort to cut unnecessary positions?

Did leadership do a position by position analysis of need or duties?

Did leadership do any of the above?

Not likely.

If not then that is failed leadership only seeking to ensure the required votes and easy sailing to a smooth election win.

Is that what you want as leadership?

November 3, 2009 you get to decide.

In my fifty plus years I have lived many places across this great land. I can say without question that the one continual fact is that politicians are the all exactly same. They deny that which they know is the absolute truth. They only work on behalf of themselves and those in their favor. And finally that they know a unconcerned public finds that behavior to be the norm.

Not like our Norm although he may be the worst I have ever seen on a local level. If just half the things I have heard about him these past twenty years are true, he has deserved a prison cell for most of those years. The saddest thing is in the manner in which he is defended and protected by those who attach themselves at his side against those they are sworn to serve. Mayor Sobel is second in my disgust and he lives in my section. Although he may have sold his home and that may have him taking an early exit from the council. He is now just a double-dipping puppet-master who can pull his puppets' strings. The Dems will not venture too far into the Cliffwood, Freneau and the Cliffwood Beach areas of town. Cliffwood because of the soon to be approved *as soon as the election is over that is* developments Kauff is gifting to Cifelli. Freneau because of the same thing which combined with the proposed number of possible units, sect. 8 or whatever could reach combining all areas of town Kauff may soon be forcing over 1500 units all over our little hamlet.

Lets say Kauff shakedown share is just $2,000.00 per unit. I think the $2,000.00 is low. That makes $3,000,000.00 for Kauff and the others. Potential profit for the developers could be $24,000,000.00.

They will win grant the approvals for all of the Kauff developments overburden and bankrupt the school system with those 1300+ housing approvals alone. That is lets say 400 kids at $13,000.00 per student that we taxpayers will have to pay for. Don't worry about Kauff's leadership puppets though all those beholding to Kauff will get their taxes covered by CME and all of the rest of the leeches.

That is if their is anyone left in Aberdeen to pay the taxes after that screwing by Kauff will give us with his secret approval deals for 1300 houses+.

And one final thing about Vinny Vincy.Let us not forget the secret Vincy's land deals. Vincy better not even thinking of running when his term is up.

THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING IN REGARDS TO SOME OF THE RECENT POSTINGS!

DID CME PAY FOR OUR LOCAL LEADERSHIP AND THE OTHERS TO GO AWAY FOR A SPA WEEKEND?

THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING ON SOME SERIOUS ISSUES BROUGHT FORTH IN JUST THE PAST FEW DAYS.

IS THERE A QUARANTINE FOR CORRUPT LEADERSHIP WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT.

WHAT COULD IT BE?

(hum the jeopardy song to yourself)

I FIGURED IT OUT. THE LATEST PAYOFFS FROM CME WERE IN MEXICAN PESOS AND NOW ALL THE KAUFFKINS ARE BEING TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL FOR THE POLITICALLY CORRUPT IN TRENTON. THAT HOSPITAL IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE STATE CAPITOL.

MAYBE THEY RAN OUT OF VACCINE?

NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP I BEG...

Stemler, you are incorrect about the signs. I have three neighbors who have them out around my house. One is new to town and put it up because they asked. The other doesn't even vote here because his residecy is in NY. The other who has lived here for 4 years just votes Democrate, none of the three have no idea about the politics in town. They don't know Kauffor work for the town, have never heard of CME. People just show up knock on your door want to talk about the election and then ask if they could bbut a sign up, you are wrong about most of the residents. Most have no clue, they are not "tied" in to the politics of town. It is the Republicans duty to get the word out!

Anonymous wake up! Out of the about 200 signs there are a few that are from people approached by candidates and who then allow the signs to be put up. But the number of sign locations for the ruling party are shall we say are mostly CONNECTED. Your street is not the barometer for Aberdeen or its corrupt present leadership that is so desperate to maintain control for Kauff to BANK ON and RETIRE OFF OF. So just keep looking at the signs and ignore what has been put up here on this website for all to see and decide upon. Keep ignoring all of the facts all the way until corrupt developmental approvals crush all of us. THEY ARE COMING! This is not prudent building. ABERDEEN NEEDS RATABLES!

Under the Kauff corrupt COAH excuses for this supposedly needed development, they claim is to satisfy some idiotic State of New Jersey 'ruling from the bench' towns all over NJ are being forced to bankrupt themselves.

You should look to see where Kauff and his minions are seeking to satisfy the majority of Sec8 and Low Income Affordable homes. This as rumored, since all the meetings are also rumored, to be behind closed doors. But you can be sure that these closed door meetings are why these specific areas will get all of the significant problems that go along with those type housing structures. It is not a possibility it is a fact. It is not black and white it is a fact.

The real fact you also need to consider is that the supposed representative for our area is almost silent on these County Rd. PROJECTS. Is it because she has been told to be silent? Made some deal since she is a Realtor by profession? Who knows? Stranger things have happened with our supposed leader for our area. That same leader has been similarly and questionably silent on the American Can - Anchor Glass site and its potential 350 homes and other assorted commercial possibilities that will snarl our area of Aberdeen.

Yet you are so vocal about a couple signs on some lawns. Wake up and see the corruption, secret meetings and monies to be made before you discuss who put a sign where. It is all about MONEY! Kauff's MONEY of course.

You may ask yourself how can one man be so hated? I ask you how can one man have so much control?

Let us all know since it is going to bankrupt all of us while he sells and moves on.

StemlerDrckgin, you are a fool! I don't think they meant their street is one from which all should be measured. I too believe that most signs are just put there and people have no clue about the people rather an voting for "their" party. That is not to say that some, are from people who know them. I bet the majority are not! Wake up and do something, walk the neighborhood with the republican candidates and spread the word.
