BUT NOT ABERDEEN WHERE IT WILL BEGIN
Hazlet Township Mayor Scott Aagre is emerging as one of the most outspoken leaders against the power company's transmission line plan.
Holmdel Mayor Eric Hinds told residents in a monthly newsletter that both the Holmdel Township Committee and the Holmdel Republican Party are opposed to JCP&L's plan in its current form. But he also pointed out:
"It is important to note that Holmdel Township and her officials have no legal standing in this matter. No approvals are needed from Holmdel in order for the project to proceed," he wrote.
Mayor Hinds recommended residents contact Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, who has also been outspoken against the plan, as well as the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU). In order for JCP&L to build the lines, they must get approval from the state BPU and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Middletown Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger told Patch he is very concerned about the proposal, and his township can take to fight it. But the Middletown Township Committee has not taken formal action against the plan, and neither has the Board of Monmouth County Freeholders.

Critics RAGE against JCP&L $75M power line
MIDDLETOWN - The large standing-room-only crowd packed into a room at Middletown Library on Wednesday night seemed ready for a long fight ahead, a battle against a proposed 10-mile Jersey Central Power & Light transmission line that will run along the NJ Transit tracks and behind their houses, yards and pools.
"What matters in this fight?" said Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, R-Monmouth, who fought a similar proposal in the 1990s. "Money matters, media matters, getting important people on our side matters, but what matters most is you, numbers, the people who have come here tonight."
An estimated 300 residents attended an organizational meeting for RAGE Residents Against Giant Electric..
The group reformed recently after successfully fending off the project decades ago.
"You have the power to literally stop the functioning of government and offices that refuse to help, that aren't on our side," Handlin said. "You have the ability to make it clear to elected officials who aren't on our side that they will not only lose your votes, they will lose their good names in their communities.
Jersey Central Power & Light's $75 million proposal for a 230,000-volt transmission line, called the Monmouth County Reliability Project, would run along the New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line railroad tracks and right of way,
connecting a substation in Aberdeen with one in Red Bank and going through Hazlet, Holmdel and Middletown.
The power line would feed electricity into Monmouth County's distribution system, encompassing 63 substations from Union Beach to Freehold Township and along the coast to Sea Girt. JCP&L considered 17 potential routes for the proposed project, considering factors such as environmental concerns, vegetation removal and the proximity to homes,
The utility has not yet filed a proposal with the state Board of Public Utilities, which must approve the project.
A growing number of residents have raised an alarm, concerned about the health impact of electromagnetic fields from the lines, the effect on their houses' property values and the aesthetics of the line's wires and monopole towers, which will be from about 140 feet to more than 200 feet tall, depending on their location. (JCP&L has disputed that the project will significantly increase electromagnetic fields, given the presence of NJ Transit's electric wires along the route.)
"When I found out that this power line project was being proposed again, my heart broke for a lot of reasons," said Rachael Kanapka, a Middletown resident and a RAGE coordinator. "I am scared for my children and their health. I am scared for my property values. I am scared for my neighbors. I am scared for my community and will become of it."
Kanapka said everyone has to share the work to fight the proposal. "Every single one of us have to do our part if we want this to go away," she said.
"This is a marathon. Not a sprint."
All of the towns along the route are affected, she said. Lower property values means less property taxes collected and less money going towards schools.
"It starts a very negative spiral that affects everybody," she said
The group shared details about the project and its scope, as well as talking points to inform others. RAGE has set up a website at StopJCPL.org as well as a RAGE Facebook page to combat the project,
encouraging its opponents to sign an online petition, donate and send emails and letters and make calls to officials, and learn about what's happening.
Meanwhile, town officials in Hazlet and Middletown have passed resolutions opposing JCP&L's plans. So has the Hazlet Board of Education. The Red Bank Town Council tabled a similar resolution, but Mayor Pasquale Menna has already expressed his opposition to the project. He said he has received about 35 telephone calls from mostly Middletown residents as well as 50 email and Facebook messages.
Notice how the D's still won't respond to all that is on here about all of them and their mismanagement and dishonesty? Talk about guilt being hidden from public view. Right Freddy boy?
While reading things on here makes one stop and wonder if the Aberdeen Township Zoning board members even know where Meinzer Street is in the Cliffwood section of town.
Better yet, have they taken the time to go and see the area before they vote on a project.
That, of course, holds true for all the projects they vote on as representatives of us the residents.
Do they even know or care what they do that affect so many and so much.
From what I have been told almost all of the Zoning board members reside in the Strathmore section of town and with most people over there they have no idea where and what our part of town is like.
Who do they take the lead from to vote?
Another week of failures by the so called leadership and management here in the land of failed democracy. It is apparent that the building thing across town has upset some folks and that's good. Maybe others will start to come around to the reality we know all too well is the do nothing democrats financial mismanagement not so well hidden lately. The more the merrier I say.
Did the king come out from under his desk you wonder. I wonder if the king misses playing hide and seek from pissed off husbands looking for the other piece of the riddle. Now that was something but of course nothing was said about that but the County Road thing got everyone's attention and screwed over real good guys. The $eawall is no different from all these proposed building sites that never get going but require an engineer analysis like clockwork or crook-work. You see our democrats just before every campaign season they make sure the engineers get big money to just take a quick look and file useless paperwork to not get going. It is amazing how many millions in useless paperwork our tax dollars buy that in the end get funneled into the democrats campaign funding. Of course if you look for how it got there you can forget it. Norman Kauff has schooled our polite-crooks on how to file and not file the names of donors. That is as mysterious as how the doggie day manager has kept her job with all of her screw ups much less other do nothings we employ in the muni building.

Cliffwood matters one said some of the town council looked bored at a recent meeting. My Sunday morning group has a very early tee off time this morning and since I have not been on here lately I take a drive off the Aberdeen tee off position before heading out. It seems I've missed some recent events involving what continues to be the purposeful missteps by the Aberdeen Democrats representatives that seems to have angered even more residents. Angered actually would be an understatement of the highly questionable building application and approvals in Cliffwood I looked at that is drawing the ire of vocal Cliffwood residents. The entire situation and history of other such actions screams for a thorough top to bottom investigations by anyone and everyone who could be involved in the obviously improper building approval processes hurting Aberdeen.
A quick look would be of the obvious targeted approvals of almost exclusively all of the building approvals of very high crowding placement in one tiny section far removed from Strathmore to say the least. An area of your town far away from the areas of the designated NIMBY approvers, is no less telling. NIMBY of course stands for not in my back yard, and that alone should be looked into just for the highly questionable intent of those whom I agree are told to approve almost every application as long as it is as some say across town. Approvals also that despite the obvious disregard for that area of Aberdeen's residents is probably in fact as stated a done deal citing the democrats past history of building promises that all of a sudden have hit the autobahn without full disclosure or advanced notifications to the residents so long ignored much less lied to every election season. Granted my own Matawan is facing a change in power that does not bode well I fear.
Time will tell is an understatement I also fear for the Cliffwood Matters folks. Good luck I say to the newest residents of Aberdeen to be screwed over again by the Democrats for the deal is done and the residents were betrayed again for the illegal dollars that only drive the Aberdeen Democrats decisions. Their illegal and immoral puppetry of the approving process of all votes and voters involved in the supposed approval process does not pass the open and transparent honesty test once again in Aberdeen under the Democrats who think themselves untouchable. I think untouchable might be a big stretch concerning this latest application and done deal approved before the first meeting was held to start the laughable approval process in Aberdeen. Tee off in minutes so Fore I say to the Cliffwood Matters people you all need to duck for cover because if you think the approval of the deal you seek to stop looks like a duck or quacks like a duck it is in fact a duck. That I say since your towns politicians are ducking responsibility for your area being their priority also much less listening to you with anything more than lax attention. The only priority for your politicians is the greenback dollars illegally demanded and accepted for years by your Democrats. That has been their only motivation since the first day they sadly came to power in about 1997.
Here's what the new people from Cliffwood need to know to navigate the D's running the town or better yet ruining all of Aberdeen. First off if you meet any of the political types currently or previously in office they are mostly liars all. Run if you meet up with former politician Nicholas Minotulo because all he wants to talk about is himself and his being a republican now. If you call and speak to anyone in or near town hall or stupidly leave a message for anyone don't expect an honest answer or a call back ever. If you confront any of them in person they don't care no matter what they say to you or how much they promise to look into your topic or problem. I myself asked to get a green nylon dump bag from construction next to the park by Lloyd Road school over a month and a half ago and it's still there.
Another entry some time back said if you want something done and I mean anything done on your block or in your area of town bother them as much as you can. Seems they will do whatever they can to make you happy if you complain. That is especially true if they have to get the engineers to look into it and that goes for the town lawyers to I hear. I'm going to bother them again about the bag and take my own advice this week. On another subject I also have to ask what is with this pool club that it is taking so long. Is it the town holding them up for donations or is it going to be our towns big white elephant.
In case nobody said it today the democrats don't do shit for any of us.
Come on people let bygones be bygones because you know the town council can't do anything beneficial or honest. I mean they're democrats and nothing more and that is how they roll. To Cliffwood Matters 1 and the others new to this blog I say to all of you please take the time to really look at this site and the past posts and subjects discussed.
You will see a great amount of angst and aggravation without a doubt and I ask you to look past that and chalk it up to frustration borne out of the decades of ineffective leadership.

I have an idea to put our town on the map. Here's what we do. We solicit a local builder and a few artists to design, create and install new Welcome to Aberdeen signs for all of the entry areas in town.

I remember each and every time that politicians came over to our side of town and it was only for votes. One time was about 10 years ago and they put pictures of the beachfront in their campaign propaganda promising the area would be improved. IT NEVER HAPPENED and it was promised for that campaign season and almost every other election season with, WAIT FOR IT, nothing ever done despite political the glossy political get to the vote promises since the 80's.
So now these latest politicians want to put a waterpark at the beach with no doubt we can all be sure, HUGE engineering fees paid to their biggest political contributors at CME. Taxpayer monies routinely proposed and approved for studies by the same greedy engineers all to facilitate the typical and illegal campaign donations and hidden and highly illegal kickbacks to our selfish wasteful politicians.
So if you get a chance read the paper in your driveway this week or like me I get mine from the store, read the article titled Aberdeen "discusses" improvements to Cliffwood Beach. From being born here in 1965 and still living here since then I can assure you that the word "discusses" is all that will happen right up until the next election is over. After the election the beachfront improvements like all of the other campaign year promises will be forgotten about until the next election season.
How many phone calls and what does this cost us

I am continually amazed at the fact that none of your towns officials named on here for years have ever responded to anything much less defended themselves ever. Some other opinions on here say quite often that none of those named could properly or honestly defend anything they've done or not done in their official positions. This seems to be due to the fact that collectively or singularly they've done nothing positive or to much less justify themselves as leaders or to honor their campaign promises or they used to get elected. That is all too obvious by just looking around your town of Aberdeen to see what is or is not getting done or what might be actually getting done to say the least and is routinely questionably done. Sadly what seems to be only done in your town with favored donors as is similarly suggested to have had the inside track or improper information supplied to them due to their easily questioned and uncovered political connections awarding contracts due to equally questionable donations or worse suggested illegal and improper payoffs. Some have even suggested family or other patronage connections in the awarding of municipal government work contracts being awarded.
Whether it be the campaign promises a few years ago by candidate Martucci and his promise to look for municipal services savings under every nook and cranny in your town hall seems to have never occurred. Matrucci's promised search for savings, that one Aberdeener post justly tying Martucci's statement to a similar statement of the infamous OJ Simpson. Simpson who promised upon his acquittal to look for his wife and Ron Goldman's killer, which of course never ever happened just like candidate Martucci's municipal savings search that never happened. This is personal for me and mine as both of my boys played for him and we thought far better would come from candidate Martucci then his silence so pervasive since his swearing in ceremony took place. It of course is obvious that myself and my family have no skin in the game in your Aberdeen except it is just so disappointing to see him become just another lying politician. We thought better of him before his dismal political career of silence developed that was either ordered or expected off of a candidacy that was successfully engineered on name recognition only. Either way to us who thought better of him it is very disappointing from a former Maroon and Steel family to see his lack of fight in the face of the obvious many years of leadership failings or his lie to search for significant taxpayer savings that could be had easily. The other major failure by your communities politicians is the total failure to emphasize the natural resources of Aberdeen and that is what sparked this from me. My community has a well used and supported lakefront area, a Main Street for parades and for the most part a business community involved and not ignored by leadership. As a local business owner in Matawan I talk to chamber members from your town that stay silent due to the fear of being harassed or targeted for speaking out. Silence is their only choice.

Once again I get back from a trip and hit the replay button on my message machine and there he is once again Mayor Tagiarini and now he's inviting me and mine to a car show. That's right my fellow residents despite the phone call lists for us residents supposedly for emergencies it seems that a car show at town hall now qualifies as a democrat vote getting emergency. These low lifes cannot sink low enough to make us residents think they give a damn about any of us and they will do anything for votes. We will not be attending the car show Mayor Tagliarini and I will be taking my families name off the call list if they keep abusing the call list that is not to be politicized in my opinion.
Every 2 hours and 11 minutes a person is shot in Chicago. Every 13 hours a person is murdered in Chicago. Last year over 2940 people were shot in Chicago. Police involved shootings in Chicago last year had 9 people shot and killed and 16 wounded by police officers in the course of protecting the citizenry. Why isn't that the conversation being talked about by the liberal media? The sad answer is that it dos not make an interesting news cycle to continue to blame law enforcement rather than the stark reality that is the truth of black on black crime in the United States of America that has existed for a very long time.
Typing with one arm today due to work at home injury. That's right no golf for a week or so the doctor says so we shall see. Anyway I saw the post about police salaries and you'd be surprised by the numbers like New York City cops salaries versus little towns like my Matawan and the listed Aberdeen showing $97,000.00 on average for police salaries in my neighboring Aberdeen. I find that number hard to believe except for the fact that the top four salaries for the police chief and the other three top officers in Aberdeen is almost $700,000.00 alone. I'm not anti police for sure but that is a lot of money in taxes for four officers and to think of the pensions at a rate of 65% for life is a sizable sum. 65% of let's say a police chief retiring at $150,000.00 is about $97,000.00 plus health benefits for life. Granted officers risk much for all of us every day and much like other posts on here I think there needs to be an independent accounting of such departments to keep all of the other costs in check.
I will only go tonight to the car show or go to any of the other events in town if and when no politicians show up to tell me how great they are and how much they do for us. In other words I'll never be able to go to anything the town offers up since it's all just politicians fishing for votes they don't deserve. Right Mayor Fred

It's closer to $640K all totaled Matawan guy. As for my Aberdeen from what I can find the Aberdeen police department costs us taxpayers over $4.2M each year. At 18k in residents divided into $4.2M works out to a per resident cost of $233.00. It seems reasonable until you realize the $4.2M is for only around 36 policemen at most. Then if you take $4.2M divided by 34 it works out to $120,000.00 in salaries, vehicles and equipment per officer.
Now the new townhouses over on County Road are finding out the democrat mayor and council here in corrupterdeen are nothing but lying scum. Seems there are big problems with the townhouse construction and more allegations that the town looked the other way on many wrong things related to the companies who built the buildings. Imagine that the democrat only politicians in corrupterdeen being accused of wrong doing. Like that has't happened here every single day for the last two decades. First they'll tell you Joe that it's nothing personal and that it's just business. No, it's not Joe, and I know you know what to do to make your point along the way. This is no less personal to you than for others before you who were targeted for knowing what all who work for the town know all too well. We know there are major problems all over that little building on Church Street and it is not hard to expose. Firstly, when it is over (and it will end) make sure everybody knows what really goes on in there. They'll say at first you are just a disgruntled employee bringing wild accusations. That won't last long when you start presenting fact after fact with backup and exacting examples we have all seen.
When I get word that your case is over, I have a reporter's name for you that is not already spoon fed locally. Wild accusations against them they'll point to as false that we know are not just accusations but easily provable truths. They are true facts in the grand conspiracy of misdeeds and corrupted politics that hurts the community that is too busy to notice the screwing they are getting at the hands of the politically corrupt. You can change that Joe, and you've got the experience from years ago to get the word out very effectively.
Let me guess Joe, you haven't heard from many people in the building since you left. That is self preservation at its worst of course and they don't want to be the next target. It is truly a circus with performers acting as if they are doing right by the taxpayers and residents of all types. It is merely a dog and pony show with clowns and jugglers entertaining the public for short time frames until they go away puzzled at what they saw or were told to satisfy them just for a brief moment in time. These are the exact same democrat only politicians who are now mysteriously are possibly trying to distance themselves from the highly criticized Meinzer project that they themselves improperly orchestrated and likewise improperly approved at every step of the illegal process. That the democrats will no doubt will deny when approached. These expected democrats fake denials to the Cliffwood Matters people will only be done in an attempt to keep a voter happy and will by now be forthcoming from our politicians at every opportunity. This highly questionable and typical sale of these 900 housing unit approvals of course is illegal and is typical of our self serving democrat leaderships illegal process for decades. Their possible public politician outrage is now probably coming forth only in an attempt to cover their illegal business as usual cash payoffs for approvals like Norman Kauff executed. Executed that is like clockwork using the man they labeled "the milkman" to "smooth things over in the corrupt democrat developmental application and approval process".
It is I understand no longer done as publicly like the time when Norman Kauff shook down a big time developer in the municipal parking lot "under the lights" just after a developmental approval meeting run improperly by Norman Kauff then the town attorney. What was it again Mr. Kauff a $50,000.00 payoff for you and the developer could only use a big time democrat senators law firm with big money kickbacks for every unit built.
This time around our sneaky democrats are without their Norman Kauff but they are still using the tried and true unethical shifting of agendas and publications that has now justly caught up with the democrats and their deceitful ways.
