They Mayor, McCarthy, and I

For the handful of readers disappointed they missed my "performance" at the April 19th Aberdeen council and planning board meetings, here I am at the May 4th town council meeting. I had to cut the beginning and end because YouTube only permits ten minutes. You can click here for the entire video if you're interested.

The only missing highlight was my gaffe in referring to the planning/zoning attorney of "police action" fame as Lesniak instead of Leckstein.

Included in the video are McCarthy's denials and explanations for:

  • Claiming COAH threatened to withdraw certifacation
  • Claiming Aberdeen risked losing certification at COAH's April 21st meeting
  • Implying he was the only Aberdeen representative present at the March COAH meeting
  • Explaining why the council never voted to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the developers
  • Explaining why the residents were not entitled to know about the MOU
  • Claiming he didn't remember the first reading of the ordinance creating an "Inclusionary Housing" zone was in April
  • Explaining why the ordinance's first reading wasn't on the April 6th agenda
The audio isn't great but I think it's good enough. Enjoy. Thanks to Ken Aitken for providing the video.

Thanks for representing the residents, Joey.

But, you and Ken really are like A/V nerds from high school.

I'm glad someone goes to these meetings and holds people accountable, but I have to laugh watching this video...

Total geeks... I can't believe the council kept a straight face with you at the mic and fat-Ken filming behind you.

Hahahaha...

CORRUPTION SHOWN BUT YET said...

YET THE CORRUPTION IS AGAIN OVERLOOKED DAY AFTER DAY BY THE IDIOTS LOOKING TO DEFLECT THE REAL PROBLEM. THERE SEEMS TO BE A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT GREG OR OWEN TOOK A HALF DAY AND GOT TO THE VIDEO AND WERE ABLE TO BE THE FIRST COMMENT. COULD BE JUST ANOTHER IDIOT EITHER BELONGING TO THE DEMS, BARZA, JANITORS, TEACHERS OR ANY OTHER GROUP OR PERSON NOT LIVING IN THE REAL WORLD. SO JOEY AND KEN ARE NERDS? ALL RIGHT I GO WITH THAT THAT ALSO MAKES THEM THE NERDS THAT SHOW THE CORRUPTION OF THE LEADERSHIP SCUM THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SERVING US. THE SAME SUPPOSED LEADERS THAT REALLY ONLY SERVES DICTATOR KAUFF USING OUR MONEY TO GREASE THE WHEELS OF THE POLITICAL CORRUPTION THAT IS THE ABERDEEN DEMOCRATIC PARTY. RIGHT MR. K. YOU OLD QUEEN?

Anyone who questions these two men have done us all a great favor are dumb. Fred T. and the rest are just soldiers in the Kauff war on us citizens. Any tool or video used to embarass these people must be used. I hear very soon that they are to start trying to solve the budget problems they created. I remember when that Marc Coren was running the show and did my street. I complained about the dust and days that no one was around to supervise. He told me we do not have a whole lot of extra people to watch projects so we hire engineers to keep watch. That was no less troubling after that advisory. My nephew works in Howell and does three jobs under one hat. Last year he was out of work for over ten weeks with no pay. When he got back the work was still there and he said people did not want to hear why. The only ones who suffered with that stroke of genius were the people of Howell and the employees who had to work three times harder when they went back to their cubicles. Politicians caused most of the problems in our state by protecting themselves and the workers paid a stiff price for that. NJ ain't it great???????

You can be damn sure that Normy, Liar McArthy and other Kauff lap dogs are meeting over doing something right away to stop the videotaping of council meetings. Forget how pissed off McArthy and Normy are about it all ready. Right Normy? Forget the blog put these low lifes all across the net.

Did you make a mistake with the title? Should it have read the Mayor, MCcArthy are liars? That would be the ablsoute truth. Right Coach Fred?

By the way tread lightly with your employees Freddie Boy. You can't believe all that they know and could disclose to the law. Isn't that right Norman Kauff Esquire? You low life scumbag. Mess with us retirees and we will also come out of the closet. Not like Mark Coren did.

Boss Kauff is like Boss Hog said...

This cannot be good. People *those pesky taxpayers* that the council has ignored for so long daring to ask questions and on film. Kauff is not going to like this one corrupt power boss Norman Kauff little bit. The Dems have been used to hundreds of meetings with only their allegiant three seniors attending only to suck up to the corrupt in power who are beholding to Norman (Boss) Kauff.

That is very tue. Mr. K. is not going to like the video thing one corruption bid rig, taxpayer soaking with no substantive pay to play ordinance in Aberdeen under Mr. K. is guaranteed. As for the boss comment anyone that thinks Mr. K. is a boss needs to look again. Dictator is the word you are looking for. Heil Mr. K. the exalted ruler of all he corrupts.

Issues aside... Anyone who doesn't see the unintentional humor in this video really needs to lighten up...

These two might be doing us a service, but it's like something out of revenge of the nerds...

Joey,
Great questions! But where does this go from here? They just don't answer the questions or say they don't remember, but nothing changes. There agenda moves along as planned. This was a performance and was entertaining but it doesn't change a thing. What can be done from here on to stop this?

Kauffs control is said...

Like you expect Fred T and the rest to ever tell the truth? That momentous occasion will happen only when Kauff finally attains room temperature. Then again if they screw with the employees who knows what the council will have to explain away or refuse to answer under the advice from their liar. I mean lawyer. Lets see the shakedown in the parking lot would be minor to what the insiders may know.

I remember when Kauff had his heart problems years ago. I hear tell they did find a heart in there. I also hear they took it out and put in one that was labeled *corrupt through and through*. That is why he is such a low life cuss. So much for medical miracles.

I guess Joey doesn't want to talk about janitors anymore.

Education first and foremost said...

Janitors MRTA 0

Taxpayers 1

Janitors don't teach do they?

Bus Drivers don't teach do they?

Food Service don't teach do they?

Administrators don't teach do they?

Schools are for teaching.

I feel bad for all those who have been privatized or that may be privatized in the future to ensure educational funds are prioritized and used accordingly. The sad reality is that schools are for education and while none of the above jobs is unimportant, the priorities of this district need to be ensured and that the number one priority is the education of our children be first and foremost.

Anonymous said...

How much do you think you saved in your taxes by putting them out of a job? I'd be surprized if it was $50. Joey is nothing but a jerkoff with a hard on for janitors that make a decent wage.

What goes around said...

Janitors in our school district make a decent wage that is true. But once again they do not teach children. All of the scare tactics and fear baiting scenarios put forth by the employees, some of who may lose their jobs is understandable. But to blame Dr. O. and all the rest for having to make sound financial decisions for the betterment and sustainability of the educational system is a reality many do not want to accept. If the privatization ensures the educational requirements for the 3,000 plus children, so be it. If you have a problem with that i apologize for having to conversational reality. I too feel badly for the employees who will face difficulty. But it is not like the local town councils who will have to face down many employees who truly know where the monies are wasted and funneled politically that will be their defense mechanism to ward off the corruption that is rampant within those buildings.

A prioritzed service is provided by all in the school district and it is to teach. The tables, floors and seats and trash will be emptied with the privatization.

There were many cuts that should have been made to save the janitors. Those decisions like the town councils will have to make are far different ones citing the councils fear that the true words and numerous examples of corruption and financial impropriety will get out if they lay people off.

erhaps that is what should have been done by the school unions. They all know of the inadequacies of many administrators, long time instructors and more that do not cut the mustard and take up space. Likewise they know that the schools do not need so many other high paid admin positions with their big salaries. No cuts to any of those is what the unions should have been screaming about. You can bet my cousin and many of his coworkers at town hall know who to throw on the fire if they go to lay off anyone in their union. What goes around comes around.

The above post titled What Goes Around is correct. I contacted someone whom was possibly thought to have been the author. It was him just as was thought. He laughed when he was told of a couple errors in his posting. He stated he is having trouble with his new progreesive eyeglass prescritpion as to the couple of errors. Regardless of that fact the information and opinions he posted comments were were right on the money. One statement he made on the overall is very true. Quite often employees within a company structure know full well where the moneys are wasted. Also as is probably the case in our area monies spent politically in a municipal building assures that the workers know full well of the significant waste, corruption or far worse that we all know is probably going on. Come on people after all this is New Jersey. It is not all mom and apple pie and rainbows as some think. It is the political corruption that is rife with our so called political leadership. As one town employee told me years ago when he was asked about the much rumored local political powerbroker Norman Kauff. His response about Norman Kauff was simple and to the point. He said that Norman Kauff would not even be allowed to walk his dog. That told us all that we needed to be known about Norman Kauff. Many say many things on here about that man and while he is unknown to me personally, such a statement says much to an uninformed taxpayer who is too old to fight city hall. It is people like this Norman Kauff fellow that has ruined communities like ours.

Yes, but they do nothing! They complain, but don't organize. And if you call 50 or 100 so people at a town meeting organized then they need a reality check. Nothing will happen until a serious, organized (with MONEY!) group with a lawyer opens fire on town hall and challenges the status quo. And all the video taping in the world will not change a thing.

DR. O'MALLEY NEWS FLASH

ASBURY PARK PRESS 5-11-10

MATAWAN-ABERDEEN HIRES

NEW PRINCIPAL

MR. TYLER BLACKMORE 36,WILL BE PAID A SALARY OF $132,404 WITH AN ADDITIONAL STIPEND OF $2,000.00. THE CONTRACT GOES THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011.

WELL THIS SAYS A WHOLE LOT OF SOMETHING AS MY MOTHER USED TO SAY. I SAY IT SAYS A WHOLE BUNCH THAT OUR SCHOOL DITRICT HAD TO GO OUTSIDE OF OUR LONG AND EXPENSIVE LIST OF OUR PRESENT SCHOOL EMPLOYEES AND THE TOO MANY OVERPAID ADMINISTRATORS TO FILL THE POSITION OF PRINCIPAL OF THE MATAWAN AVENUE MIDLE SCHOOL. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE OF THE FAR TOO MANY AND FAR TOO COSTLY ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS WE HAVE AT EVERY SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT.

I SHOULD HOPE THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO WERE PASSSED OVER FOR THE POSITION NOW FILLED BY MR. TYLER BLACKMORE. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS ANOTHER INDICATOR OR SIGN IN THE ROADWAY FOR THOSE WHO WERE PASSED OVER, NOT CONSIDERED OR WHO HAVE FAILED MISERABLY IN THE PAST TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION NOW FILLED BY MR. TYLER BLACKMORE. SADLY THOSE WHO WILL REMAIN IN THEIR PRESENT HIGHLY OVERPAID POSITIONS WHICH STILL DOES NOT ANY RELIEF FOR THE TAXPAYERS OF THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT.

THIS HIRING OF MR. BLACKMORE ALSO SAYS THAT BARZA/QUINN HAVE STILL LEFT THEIR MARK ON OUR DISTRICT AND ITS TAXPAYERS BY HAVING HAD SO MANY ADMINISTRATORS AND OTHER HIGHLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE ARROGANTLY AND IGNORANTLY FORCED OUT OF THIS DISTRICT DURING THE BARZA/QUINN YEARS. THE NAMES WERE MANY OF THOSE FORCED OUT OR WHO LEFT FROM THE VINDICTIVE WITCH HUNTS BY TOO POWERFUL TECHERS, UNION REPRESENTATIVES AND SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS WITH THEIR NOT SO HIDDEN AGENDAS. MANY WHO WERE RUN OUT OF OUR DISTRICT TOOK THEIR QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK ETHICS TO OTHER DISTRICTS WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN REWARDED AND RESPECTED IN THE DISTRICTS THEY WENT TO. IT SEEMS THE GHOST OF BARZA AND THE I'M SO GLAD HE IS GONE SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT BRUCE QUINN ARE STILL COSTING US PLENTY.

MY CHILDREN ARE BOTH IN HIGH SCHOOL NOW SO I SAY GOOD LUCK TO MR. BLACKMORE. TO THE TAXPAYERS THIS IS A POSSIBLE SIGN OF DR. O'MALLEY SENDING A MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO DID NOT QUALIFY. LET US HOPE WE HAVE THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB AND THOSE WHO MAY SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL PUT IN THEIR RETIREMENT PAPERS AND GO.

No, that would be too easy to point out? It is far easier for some anonymous idiot to purport some grand scheme? Some imaginary scheme with no proof whatsoever of course. Some scheme with someone connected to someone else? Such a scheme is only a reality in their anonymously ignorant imagination.

Get real people? Change is coming with Chris Chritie and Dr. O'Malley whether you like it or not. NJEA is next thank God to go. Perhaps from within its own ranks it shall be dismantled and shown for the organized crime organization that it has been all along.

I watched the video today and found the supposed leadership to be liars and far worse. They would not know the truth or much less tell the truth ever. You see Kauff will never allow that to happen in his kingdom. And Mccarthy is truly an arrogant asshole but not much more of an asshole then our elected officials who look like deer in the headlights having been caught in the lies they were told to tell to an outspoken public. Any housing approvals based on the lies told by Mccarthy will be the basis for their downfall, possible ethics or criminal probe that needs to be undertaken over this and much more. People are watching what is going on in this town. Many are watching the idiocy of Kauff and his company of liars as well. Tick tock Kauff. The bell tolls for thee.

If it smells like...its Kauffy said...

I agree the liar Mcarthy looked a little pissed off at Joey Warren ignoring him and ridiculing him on tape. Too F'n bad you dipshit attorney. Kauffy handpicked Mcarthy to ensure the Kauffy corruption goals are met and he is not used to being ignored or told that he is not the one who that taxpayer wants to hear from. Who really needs to hear from such a man and at how many hundreds of dollars an hour in such a carefully orchestrated meeting. The fact that the joke that is Mayor Tag and the other Kauffy clones did not catch on, question or maybe even realize the obvious fact that they should have been justly embarassed for being Kauffy controlled and denied their own opinions by liar Mcarthy. Mcarthy whose job it is to control the councils responses or as council was Kauffy instructed to allow Mcarthy to control the entire meeting and control any and all public information. Mcarthy seems to be a man who seems so easily controlled to answer any and all of the questions posed to the council from the public. Some would say he is just there to run interference. The whole thing about these sec. 8 housing costs and minimums, among other questions still unanswered. Also it needs to be asked who will control who goes into what apartment and for how much money, that still has not been disclosed to us who live right there. Or is Kauffy going to control that also? This whole deal for the insiders, forced changes and the Democratic contributors being favored over us taxpayers along with our supposed leadership both smell like dog shit on a shoe.

Anonymous said...

My husband and I are waiting for the other shoe to drop as to the real tax increase numbers in town. Have you heard anything Mr. Aberdeener? The clock is ticking for all of us. My cousin says the workers have heard nothing firm yet they are also waiting to hear. I cannot imagine the pins and needles she is sitting on waiting for furlough notices that many towns are announcing already. After all a few employees pay really can't solve the problems that they did not cause. On another note Mr. Aberdeener anything new on the senior housing list being started.

Anonymous said...

If they lay off police people will scream for the councils heads. These economic times make people do crazy things. We'll need more police not less police. Maybe the council should do like the school board and not take a salary. That would be a considerate show of support for the people who really work hard for the residents and community.

Kauff math is not good for us said...

The police and fire are always are the last to get cut. This of course is counter to the very costly services that are provided by these services. Don't get me wrong we need them without a doubt. As for all the other town employees everyone else and especially here in Aberdeen is in play. This is for one simple reason and one reason only. Kauff and company are sitting around trying to figure out what to do about the budget problems they created. You see it is very difficult to fix something like that when Kauff tries to decide if he gives one dollar in cuts for the taxpayers then that means Kauff does not get his ninety nine cents. So in reality it is all for Kauff and screw everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Aberdeener,
I am just too curious as to know why a replacement Pricipal was hired from outside when there are plenty of Vice-Principals within and qualified to move up. Especially when things are being cut and you have a chance to save and the Board just obliterates this and goes out and hires someone for 132k. What gives. You cannot tell me that someone within is not qualified and gives us a great chance to reduce one of the excessive administrative posts. Please do tell the thinking of Dr. O and the Board.

Aberdeener said...

Anon,

I think you're conflating two issues.

Did we appoint the best candidate for the principal job? Yes.

Could we have terminated more non-tenured administrators? Yes.

Your question seems to suggest that we should have promoted from within regardless of who was the best candidate. On that point, I'd have to disagree.

If you believe we should have promoted from within to avoid an additional termination, I'd have to disagree with that as well. Our children are entitled to the best education we can reasonably afford and that means appointing the best people, whoever they are.

Just answer this question about kauff then MR. FIREMAN. Does he run the show in town and give millions to his buddies or not. Does kauff control and interfere with developments and kids in school snumbers or not. Of course fire volunteers are important but the posting was about costs of such services not personal attacks. Police and fire are expensive things that communities need. But at what cost should an aberdeen or matawan pay without a real true review of costs, scheduling, manpower requiremnents and much more. Now answer the question about the rumored man in charge. If you don't answer it then the answer is all too obvious that kauff does run the show as we have been told and no one in leadership has ever denied. FACT!.

Anonymous said...

Are you going to answer the questions Joey?

Anonymous said...

Seems the firemen are still touchy. Of course their own inner turmoil and firehouse antics have shown a different light lately. Now it seems someone hit a nerve over monies, costs and taxpayer funding.

So I ask then when was the last audit of our volunteer services. I think that should be done at town hall also. My company does internals all the time and finds waste, corruption, illegality and more often.

Maybe that is why our FD members are a little touchy since they know far more then they want made public. Of course no one else is allowed to know how much they really have in the fund. That is the way they keep the taxpayers in the dark. I think it is time for all these sweetheart deals are exposed.

When I cannot make ends meat and my boys count on me and me alone someone else needs to be accountable prove to me why we should pay for something we don't really know needs alot more money year after year.

Taxpayers are tired of getting screwed over and over and for paying the check without seeing the bill.

As for this Mr. Kauff I would like someone on the inside to come forward and spill the beans about this guy. Sooner rather then later would be beneficial to us taxpayers who foot the bill.

I applaud and contribute every year to the volunteers. I think it is time for a real review from top to bottom for town hall and all the rest. Taxpayers struggling like me deserve that.

Why all the innuendos against Mr. Blackmore? The board voted unanimously to approve his appointment. Does anyone truly believe Demarest and I are in cahoots?

All I know is the guy lives in Asbury Park. I have no idea what, if any, political affiliation he has. Nor do I believe anyone ever asked him.

I do know this - if anybody had any suspicion, it would have been raised and there wouldn't have been a unanimous vote.

Police Officers and Firemen costs are not the only problems facing many municipalities all across the state. It is unfortunately the improper, corrupt, political or reelection driven choices made by our supposed leadership for far too long. Whether it is in Washington D.C., Trenton New Jersey or our own Aberdeen the sad truth is that the same people for the most part who made these unwise and very costly decisions now want us to trust them to fix the problems most of them created. Unwise financial or leadership decisions have been made and many employees and the municpalities own taxpayers will lose services because of the choices made as described above. Improper choices by those entrusted with real leadership responsibilities have failed miserably by allowing political bosses, contractors, over developments and reelection at any cost type priorities to drive the improper decisions that haunt them as of late. Run it like I run my business and like Governor Christie is the only answer. Don't just worry about getting reelected. Won't really matter much for me since my business is for sale and i'm Pinehurst bound. As for the brave men and women in blue and our volunteers just leave them all alone. Look to the leadership who tells you that they are working on all of our behalf. They are lying every time they open their mouths. Yes it is just that simple.

So you are saying that you voted to hire this guy as a principal only knowing what town he lived in? Yeah, ok Joey, sure...

Aberdeener said...

And you think you're going to win an argument by taking my statements out of context? I was obviously referring to any alleged political connections.

Hey, Sad Sack, what's the latest on the ethics filing against Dr. Delaney? Who signed it? Can't wait to find out. :)

In your mind, no one can win an argument with you. In the real world, your facade is crumbling. Unfortunately for you, you are too arrogant to see it. For the rest of us, it is entertaining to watch it all unfold.

Sad Truth,
While I admire your taking on Mr. Warren, I also suspect you are a teacher. If so, I sincerely hope you are not messing around on this blog while you should be teaching my child! Everyone knows the teachers "pet" name for Dr. O'Malley is Dr. Dick....
And btw, your use of the f-bomb detracts from your arguments.

Anon 10:59,

You don't need to be an educator to come up with the nickname "Dr. Dick" for a disliked man named Richard who holds a doctorate. I'm sure many students were able to think of that all on their own as well. No need to make assumptions, MRTA and its members have been under fire enough on this blog.

I kind of like the name "Little Napoleon" for our Dr Dick.

Aberdeener, When I questioned you yesterday about hiring within, I was asking why did we hire from outside for what you say "was the best available candidate" when we have VERY QUALIFIED candidates within the school system already. Why always shoot for the moon? There are costs associated with that. When you/Board are trying to cut costs and you can eliminate one of the excessive/overstaffed administrative positions, you still go out and hire a guy for $132k. That's allot of money that could have been saved, promoted a VP within and saved some of the programs that were already cut or going to be cut. NOW YOU KNOW WHY THE BUDGET FAILED! I voted FOR the budget because I didn't want to see more programs get cut, not for the Board to hire a replacement principal for $132k when there were well qualified candidates within in an overstaffed administrative office. I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANOTHER BUDGET IF THE BOARD IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO ELIMINATION OF PROGRAMS RATHER THAN CUTTING EXCESSIVE ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS. I know of several VP's that were very well qualified to take the Principal position rather than spending another $132k. THIS WAS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND I AM SURE BY SOME OF THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS, ALLOT OF OTHER AGREE. It is so rediculous that the Board is trying to close a budget gap by hiring a replacement administrative position for $132k than actually looking to save (and show the taxpayers) that we could have saved $$ and programs by hiring within. It's starting to look like the Board are a bunch of hypocrites.

Let's see. Best available candidate or hire within our sysytem already that has qualified candidates? Hmmm... Land Rover or Honda CRV? Hmmm... What can I afford? hmmmm Doesn't the Board realize what position they are putting the taxpayers in? The position is the "poor house" with kids that cannot participate in any programs because all the money is going to the administrators and the teachers. hmmmm

Joey,
Land Rover or Honda CRV? What can we afford? Do you always have to go for the top? Best available candidate? Especially when we have plety within? Plenty of QUALIFIED candidates within? Come on..stop spending when you're trying to close a gap. You guys ARE hypocrites. I don't care how much you say this person was qualified.

Sorry about the double posting people...but I think you get my point.

And the award for the most hypocritical comment of the century goes to:

JOEY WARREN

Congratulations Joey for your retort yesterday:

"And you think you're going to win an argument by taking my statements out of context? I was obviously referring to any alleged political connections."

As everyone in the audience knows, you've made your entire career on by taking statements out of context. It is so wonderful to see you try and take on your opponents by using that argument against your foes.

Congratulations Joey! Enjoy your award.

Here's the scenario.

A principal position opened up. We had the choice of either promoting from within and keeping X number of vice principals or hiring the best person for the job and firing an additional vice principal - the least needed of the non-tenured vice principals.

From the taxpayer's perspective there's no difference. The only issue is what's best for the students.

For some reason, you're under the impression that we couldn't terminate more vice principals. Not true. We chose not to. Had we promoted from within, we probably would have fired one less vice principal.

Anonymous said...

Can you tell me how many VP's were let go? And did that make up for the $132k? Just trying to get things in perspective here. What was the bottom line?

Aberdeener said...

I believe two VPs were let go.

Joey,

This isn't a matter of dollars and cents. It's a matter of right and wrong. You school board morons sold 1150 Aberdeen voters on shared sacrifice and the termination of 80 employees. Then, after your budget gets voted down, you had the nerve to HIRE SOMEONE NEW!!!! It's really unbelievable. You had a chance to lose another administrative position through attrition, and instead, HIRED SOMEONE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER FIRING 80 PEOPLE!!!!

You can justify it all you want, and the guy probably is the most qualified candidate, but the appearance of it is infuriating to everyone who watched their family, friends, neighbors and fellow residents fired from the district less than two weeks ago.

It's no wonder there are all kinds of ethics questions flying around. If you can't see the RIGHT AND WRONG of this new hire, or even how it appears to be WRONG, then you and your fellow BOE members should be tarred and feathered.

I hope you've planned on doing your grocery shopping at 10 pm on a Sunday night, because I can't imagine how people cannot be chewing your collective ears off...

Aberdeener said...

Sorry but I'm not seeing it. The board decided how many positions to eliminate. The only question your presenting is whether we should have promoted a less qualified candidate to save another person's job. My answer is no - the students are entitled to the best education we can reasonably afford.

Anonymous said...

Not "another person's job" in the singular...

I'm thinking two or three teachers for the new principal's $130k price tag...

I'm thinking you shouldn't have replaced Olsen, but should have promoted from within and used the extra money for tax relief...

Or to reclaim lost teaching positions...

Or rehire the librarians...

Or anything besides another administrator when the administration already has enough dead wood to fill Central Office...

Aberdeener said...

Then just say you want us to fire another vice principal. You think we have too many vice principals. If so, the answer is to terminate them, not promote them.

Anonymous said...

Is five vice principals at the high school too many? Three quarters of a million dollars in vice principals at a high school that size sounds like mismanagement.

Anonymous said...

You're right, Joey. We agree. But, you did neither. That's my gripe...

If you wanted to hire an administrator, you should have fired another administrator.

Or, you should have never hired a new one...

Now you've hired an administrator and kept the dead wood administrators too...

All while firing the 80 people who could least afford it, i.e. janitors and young teachers...

Aberdeener said...

We cut two assistant principals. Which other assistant principal did you want us to fire?

As for 5 in the high school? Care to name them so I know whom you're referencing?

Anonymous said...

Amazing!

Ready

1.Patricia Phillips-ASSistant Principal
2.Barbi Siegel-Personnel Services/Assistant Principal
3.Frank Liotti-Assistant Principal
4.Debbie Scesney-Assistant Principal
5.Joseph Martucci-Athletic Director/Assistant Principal

All have the title and all are receiving Assistant Principal pay.

Thats Five!

Aberdeener said...

Barbi Siegel has not been renewed.
Joe Martucci has tenure as an assistant principal (and can't be paid less than that) but his position is athletic director.

So, that's one principal and three assistant principals for over 1100 high school students.

According to the NJ DOE, "The recommended ratio is one principal/assistant principal for every 300 or more children."

Boy Joey, you have turned into a real disappointment. When you first arrived on the scene you were a breath of fresh air and questioned many wrong doings. Now, you defend the indefensible and have become what you despised in such a short time. It is very disheartening.

Aberdeener said...

I'm sorry I've failed to live up to your expectations but being one of nine board members working with a superintendent does require a different tact.

I hope you'll remember that I was the one who pushed for two assistant principals to be removed when the budget originally called for the elimination of just one.

I hope you'll also remember that we're not done cutting. I expect more cuts next year.

Joey, first about your post at 3:27, "a lessor qualified candidate" being a candidate from within, is still a "qualified candidate". Don't you get it, you are dealing with a gap. A gap! A gap! Hire within. The difference between a lessor candidate and the one you hire is not much, I am sure of that!
The other thing is, needing so many VP's. What the heck! I graduated in '79. The classes we had back then had a minimum of 400 students each and we had a Pricipal and 2 VP's. NO PROBLEM! Class sizes were even high (25-30 students). NO PROBLEM! We all turned out well. Stop trying to make everyone's job so easy by hiring assistants. Make them work for their pay. Geez!
Stop falling into the hole. Teachers want smaller class sizes, more pay and live in their own reality world. EVERYONE needs to come into the real world where you work for your pay or your fired and pay into your benefits.
